Random question, but for anyone who's used car-parts.com, whats the difference in 'engine' and 'engine block'?

Searching for a 5sfe on engine gets results are around $650-1000 and searching on engine block nets results that are only around $375 (which is great for a 5sfe with less than 60k miles on it....). So what am I looking at here? I'm assuming that selecting 'engine' searches for the entire drivetrain, and that 'engine block' is just the engine itself and nothing less.

"engine block" is just the block... and "engine" is the head and the block. tats my guess.

Thinking about an engine replacement?
If you hit up an engine importing company, the 3SFE is the direct replacement for our cars. Its only a 2.0L but its rated the same as our 5SFE (IRRC about the 2.0L part)

Also for just a couple hundred more, you can score a 2nd gen 3SGE, direct swap, heard its pretty easy and standard swap.

the block is what the pistons set in, and thats all youd get, an actual engine is the whole motor, not just block and head, it'll have most everything with it

Damn. So then the average going price for a 5sfe in good condition is 600 or so? I'm looking at 60k miles or less. My engines only at 130k now, I've got time to decide. Biggest thing that needs to be done is a paint job before rust becomes a problem.

I was looking at the 3sge swap, but I'm in college and just need something that drops in with no problem. For modding and stuff I'll stick to the z for awhile.

If you are just looking for direct replacement, try a 3SFE.
