Have the names of any websites that have been recently threatened by Toyota Corporation to shut down and hand over their domain names or face the wrath of Corporate Lawyers. Any and all Toyota sites that have been harassed qualify.

The reason I am asking is that I would like to get in touch with any Fan-based or Fan-run website owners in order to obtain documentation of said harassment from them. Letter copies, emails, recordings... anything. We all heard rumblings several months ago that Toyota lawyers were making the rounds and threatening to close down websites for copyright infringements and other illegal stuff.

We here at CelicaTech got very nervous and cross ours fingers. I think we lucked out since we are supporting a now-defunct Toyota Model. I think our activities somehow carry on their brand and image. While current lines like Toyota cars, trucks, and Scion, are their bread and butter, so they protect it by any means. But by doing that, Toyota (Other big Automobile Companies are just as guilty) is basically biting the hand that feeds them.

As have recently made a friend/contact deep inside the Toyota Corporation. When I told him of the recent activities of their law department, he was in utter disbelief for all the same reasons we would be if CelicaTech.com was to get a notice to cease and desist. My contact not only is employed by Toyota, but he is a huge fan too. He is very serious about this and wants to bring recent "bad" activities to light with the proper people and channels.

Most people at Toyota are nearly brainwashed to believe that without the loyal and potential customer base, they are nothing. He said that outside of marketing and legal, these kind of actions would never be tolerated.

So in the interest of raising dust, ruffling feathers, and hopefully winning payback for some of the websites that were effected by this, if you have any reliable information on specific websites that were harassed and a possile contact at the site, I would greatly appreciate it. The only thing I can offer in return is any updates on progress and hopefully a good story or two of the future correspondence and results.

And thanks for helping sites like this remain on the web. We are nothing without our members. I think Toyota should think the same.

Play, nice speach. Toyota and other car companies are stupid and deserve whatever comes there way. We are the customers that buy there product and come to enjoy them to produce such communities as celicatech.com where other ethusiast come together to share there experiences and should be voices for new product they produce because as you see from the current line up they all suck with some exceptions of course. If they think pushing us away helps and still think i would buy another product from them they need a reality check if you ask me. Carry on the good fight.

If they really tried that on us, i would really have a problem with my favorite automaker. I'd raise a big concern.

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

What they don't want is the free exchange of information about faulty products. Informed, organized people cost them money when they are exposed for building poorly designed, quality deficient cars. Always follow the money.

After spending big $$$ to fix/upgrade the brakes on my Tundra (just outside the TSB cut-off), pulling a sludged up 5SFE out of my folks car(another recall just outside the claim window) and all of their unpublished TSB's I've completely lost faith in Toyota. Although my local dealer is great, I've purchased my last one. They've learned a lot from American car manufacturers, and they will suffer as such. The brand has suffered. They have become unethical in their business practices and customer treatment. They are a shell of their former self and have forgotten what made them great. Building quality, dependable cars.

The founding fathers of Toyota would be ashamed.

Sorry for ranting Play, If I here anything I'll send a PM.

Although not completely what I need, the latest round of commentary really sums up what most people feel about Toyota now. They chased Ford and GM for a number 1 rank and in the process, they became what they were trying to catch. The Camry is the new Taurus/Malibu and the Corolla is the new Escort/Cavalier/Sunfire. You get my drift. Until recent years and the GT500(or whatever it is), all Ford had was the Mustang and an occasional limited edition/limited production something with FI. Same thing with GM and the Camaro/Firebird. I'll give Chrysler credit for trying to one up everyone when they were preoccupied with rankings, but you CANNOT base an entire car and truck line line on the same exact retro front lines that have been around since the first, once-radical looking Durango and PT Crusier. They also proved that they could make a cheep, if not super-dangerous, FI 4 cylinder in the SRT-4 to compete with Mitsu and Subaru. That had the right idea. Just poor execution after poor execution.

Everyone should make a huge patition signed by all customers of toyotas products and send it to them with a very nice letter attached saying what complete dickheads they are. We're here spending our money on there product to make it better to support there name and this is our award. F*** them all. As far as me buying a new vehicle in the future ill leave it up to question.

I understand how you feel, but in Toyota's defense I'd say they're still a step ahead of some other companies. Ford is still having massive problems with their engines, there was a huge problem with one of the engines they put in the Ranger not too long ago. And many Chevy Cavaliers have started having issues at 30k miles, that's barely breaking it in for an econobox!

Toyota's getting worse, but I don't think they're hopeless yet.

The only thing that will bring Toyota down is themselves.

I hope they do not start focusing on quantity over quality.

Car companies are doing this all over the place. They'll never be able to stop it though.

Someone could make another forum not even using the company name in the title and users will still complain and expose problems.
