coming home from work i was in the middle of a very long bridge and all of a sudden i hear this loud grinding noise like something was rubbin. i turned down the radio and right when i did that i hear a big BOOM and look in my rear view to see something falling out from under my car along with a huge black cloud of smoke. i was like wtf is going on?!?!!? then the car started to decelerate. i was now cruising a whopping 30 mph for the next hundred feet or so and then the car just wouldnt go no more. i push in the clutch the motor goes dead. i let the clutch out the motor is back on but still decelerating. finally came to a stop. when i opened the hood i saw oil everwhere. couldnt see any hole or anything or find where it was but fucking oil everywhere. im so pissed right now that was my main mode of transportation that i just paid to get legal again yesterday with insurance in shit. im so fucking pissed.

Look underneath the car. There is a good chance that you blew a hole through the oil pan.

Sucks to hear, but you pretty much just described blowing your motor up.

Oil all over the engine bay will not be from a hole through the oil pan (rod thru block, etc). Most likely its a hole in your pistons. It likely caused the dipstick to be pushed out.

Those engines last long if you maintain them. Problem is people go on with that mentallity. All the time I talk to people and their like "I change the oil every 3 months. I'm like... okay, what other maintenance have you done? And they get angry. They just wait for stuff to break and wonder what happened afterwards.

Hope everything works out. Good luck.

I dont even understand lol? My 7a really really just devours oil... like a quart per 1k-1500 miles, but its the most reliable car I have ever owned... I cant even see one of these shit box 7afes ever blowing up under stock form. I have 190k on mine I bought it with 163k on it last year I drove it everywhere and still get 35+ mpg and im on the stock motor... this is why I was so suprised when you told me this tonight...

Good luck finding a motor as I think they were only in a couple cars... obviously the celica st would be the easiest to get going.

They were in Corollas for a while too. You shouldn't have that difficult of a time finding one, just keep your eyes out. Maybe check 6gc.net for people parting out?

Best of luck dude.

^^ I put a clutch in my 7a when I first bought mine last year. This is by far the easiest toyota to ever work on.

I just looked at the car yesterday, he's got a fist sized hole in the block with a connecting rod hanging out of it. Ricky blew the fuck out of this motor.

well, I have that motor in my car... only thing Ive done in the past 20kish is change the timing belt at 170k like I was suppost to. Did the ignition and change the oil every 3k. Unfortunately these things go through oil like Loki goes through gf's!
