Hey,

For those of you with half tracs, i was wondering what you guys were throwing down at the 1/4 mile. I finally broke 15secs with a 14.9sec last weekend. I'm just wondering how everyone else is doing to see if im in the right range. I have an 90GT with RC swap FYI. Post em. Thanks.

My 92 GTS (5sfe) runs 16.4ish

Not sure if that's what you're asking for, but there you go anyway

You should be running A LOT faster than that. My stock 7th gen gt-s ran 14.7 for comparison.. and andy's swapped GT walks me on top end.

13.89 with a miss shift on third gear with an open diff trans and 10psi.

not using those pretty rims will help out a ton.
for example

real tires make a huge difference.

True, I talked to a guy with a standard 3SGTE swapped into a GTS and he said he was runnin 14.1's if I recall

Low to Mid 14's is common.

Keep practicing your launch. What was your trap speed?

hahahahahaha

anyway, my blue 6th gen when I had it with my e153 I put my best time of 14.3 @ 98 mph still with the top mount intercooler putting ice on it between passes.... but that car wasnt much just a downpipe catless 3" exhaust and boost controller....

Majority of people go low 14s - high 13s with just bolt on mods.

eh, on a ct26? Do you have a slip to prove it?

Mafix

yes and witnesses. why is that a hard time to believe. that's slow in my book.

and just to frost more people it's the stock ct26 single entry.

Mafix, what does the 4th Gen weigh in at? I have weighed Chaos at 2300lbs, but I haven't had a chance to hit a scale and weigh Mudhoney yet.

I have a suspicion that the 4th Gen chassis is lighter than that of the 5th Gen. Making it a better power to weight ratio.

With a moderate diet I expect to be sitting at no more than 2200lbs in Mudhoney swapped and prepped.

5th gens are definately heavier, but not excessively

Edmunds says your 90 ST in stock form should weigh in at 2500.
The GTS, 2700

I'm sure you could get it pretty light after stripping it out

2689 with me in it and nearly a full tank of fuel. remember it's a gts as well. and a swap is no where near my mod list. that's about 2 pages long.

I'm using the original trans from the 5S... I know I know i should upgrade to the MR2 one, but right now i dont have the funds. I finished the swap at the end of march this year. Car runs great, its my daily driver but now that im at school i dont drive it that much. Im running at stock boost, and i just have the RC top mount intercooler. So with just being a stock swap, high 14's and low 15's are really that bad?

^^ if your going high 14s with a stock swap then thats great.... 14.9 @ 94.55 is right at normal trap speed.. with a boost controller and downpipe/exhaust you should be able to hit low 14s and with some good tires you might be able to pop a 13 second pass.

I remember you said you were on ohio right? Im running my st185 this weekend at salem if your close we can meet up?

thats really 1-2more psi on a stock ct26.. you might crank out 10 more hp off of that... I dont see a car making that little of hp weighing that much + my judging experience with have a swapped 6th gen 3sgte powered car that you can do this by just running 10psi... Heres a quoted I pulled from your website...

87 162gt w/jdm165, race gas, 12 psi, street tire, 350ish hp crank, sea level
13.75 at 106 2.5 60' 1/4 mile.
ashley's final run
this was with NOS

350hp ct26 on a 3sgte oh my!

and this one too...

87 162gts w/jdm165, pump gas, 6 psi, competition tire, 220ish hp crank, sea level
14.57 at 97mph 2.36 60' 1/4 mile.

You cant even run 6psi on a ct26 with the waste gate sprung at 7psi.

sorry Im just really bored here at work today, but correct me if Im wrong please but looks to me your showing alot of misleading et's.

my wastegate is ported out to the maximum diameter. that's why she was running 6psi.

better you than me i almost don't like sorting through the pages or documentation. and i'll tell ya what i'll take a photo to the 13.89 run just to prove i'm not full of shit.

I ran a mean 16 in the 100% stock swapped gt. lol. Had 2 12's in the back. Trunk full of crap, Full fuel tank, shity dayton 14" tires, and crappy traction. lol. Next time I run I'll definitely be gutting the car and putting on some better rubber. I would plan for a 14ish pass. Oh did I mention no exhaust??

The track was prepped too so I was just getting wheel hop through 1st and 2nd gear. I actually let off on second gear cause it was that bad. So I think a 16 is the worst you can do with a swap lol.

I read throught he entire build thread and love seeing celicas restored like that... that was awesome congrats on the car and restoring all of it.

but, why take such good photos and when it comes down to your timeslip take such a shitty photo?

For a 3sgte powered car with just a front mount, exhaust and tuning @ 10psi off of a ct26 especially a 1st gen 3s your not going to go into high 13's.... take a vid / get a slip this weekend to prove your not full of shit.

with a proper intercooler, boost controller, exhaust,etc... and good driving, mid 13s should be possible.

the biggest thing that holds us back is the stock ct26 turbo.

13's really shouldnt be that hard folks.

true, but other fwd turbo cars tend to run better 1/4mile times then us, by using bigger turbos.

Yep, part of it. Lots of stereo. Heavy tires and wheels dont help either.

Lagos,
Other turbo FWD cars have a suspension that is designed for a FWD high HP/torque setup, such as the SRT-4. Of course there going to run faster.
