only 342?

he could have skipped the trouble and swapped vg30dett from a 300zx TT and had way more power for way less money and hassle.

not a big fan of putting different make engines in different make cars.

Looks like the stock turbos on that there 2JZ. Last I checked, you can make enough power to please dyno queens world-wide if you modify it. There are tons of upgrade paths for that engine. I very much doubt the vg30 swap is simple either.

Also, lots of Toyota motors (all?) are built by Yamaha, not Toyota, so "different make engines in differnet make cars" is really semantics. It looks like a nice swap to me, and I'm sure that 240 is one fun little monster now, with just 342 RWP.

Oh and um.. the vg30dett makes way more than 342 WHP stock? Really?

very impressive.

Thats an awesome swap!

Mr. Celica, from what i've heard VG30detts are a pain in the ass to work on and even just installing it into a 300z. If you look at one in there they are CRAMED in that engine bay. So a 240 may be a little more difficult to get it in nice and snug.

Not bad, actually. It goes in pretty nicely.

not the engines make, mixing up the engines that were in the original cars. like an engine that is only in a toyota in another car. but whatever works i guess. i've seen vg30's with upgraded ECU, blow off valve, boost jets, clutch and flywheel, and an intake put just under 400 on the dyno.

I think it's cool. Mixing engines just means you're building the car you want. The 2jzgte, VG30DETT, SR20DET, 3sgte, whatever...it's all good.

Speaking of crossing engines, I've seen a Toyota Chaser with a RB26DETT. It was a wild machine.

I agree with the different makes being :wtf: ... But A++ for actually doing it.
I disagree how ever that the VG30 would make more power... Yes less money but you get what you pay for. 2jz is inflated because of the hype but it is a much much better engine in terms of design and power compared to the VG30.

Anyways,
Congrats!

Meh...Depends on what you want out of the car. I've talked to some Silvia guys who have done the VG30DET conversion and they say the handling balance improves dramatically when compared to the stock CA or SR motors and is far better than what you'll get with an RB swap because you can mount the motor so far back.

So you have to qualify when you use the term "better design." Though I'll admit I haven't heard of many 800+hp VG30s.

Aye, but do you get the unique pleasure of listening to a VG30 moo?

True. Everything has its good and bad sides. I was thinking more along the lines of power output, reliability, and amount of time and money it takes to work on the damn thing.
