It's a Holden Commodore (GM Australia) Ute (light sports truck) standard they have a 5.7 LS1 though this engine is based on the earlier 5.0 litre (308) Holden engine with a stroker kit and twin turbos (and much more..) This is the same vehicle family that the current model US Pontiac GTO is based on, though this is kind of like an El Camino version :)
Same as the one you see in some my garage pics, except mines the little brother 6cyl version.

Here is the blurb that was posted on the website I got this from (www.orsm.net :pron: warning! lol) (If you want to search the archives for more I think this was posted around Aug/Sep last year):

Subject: most powerful street Ute in Australia.
At the Holden vs Ford show this weekend (just gone), Eddy Tassones VZ Commodore Ute made 1899rwhp, which is a new world record. The car has a 383 stroker V8 (based on the old Holden 5.0L block) with twin turbos, custom cam and manifold using 40psi and C16 fuel. Apparently they backed off before the redline because the engine was leaning out due to the fact it was not tuned properly (they only put the engine together the day before the event), so it only revved to 6500rpm, and the Dyno graph indicates it will keep going. Summernats, here we come. The Dyno sheet below was taken after the second run, the third run was 1898.9rwhp

And the dyno chart:

Lol, it's an Aussie thing... just short for Utility

They are a kind of hard vehicle to define though as they are not really a truck as they don't have overly heavy springing or load capacity and drive like a car, almost more like a sports car with the ability to throw a dirt bike on the back (leastways that's what mine is!! lol)

:) There's some more of Carlos Sainz's car etc in my gallery (just do a search on my user name) I've got a bunch more which I need to post in there when I get time. If anyone needs specific parts pics or anything from the WRC cars (ST185 mainly) let me know and I'll look through my files. :bigthumbu
