This a scam, or does this really work?

scam.
it's a resistor in the air temp or coolant temp circuit.

so this resistor increasing the ohms has nothing to do with anything?

get 4 of them and go 80 more hp.

I've heard it does work by makin the motor think it runs cold, but I doubt its as great as it sounds. I certainly wouldnt waste my money like that

How many of these thread do we need? If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Hell is 7.50 go ahead an try it out, I guarentee it won't do shit.

I'm thinking about buying 15 of them, making my 5sfe 435hp, way cheaper than any engine swap!

or just go spend 7.50 and get hundreds of different resistors and see what one works, if at all, which it won't. you can get that thing for like 30 cents at an electronic shop.

if this give the ECU the info that the air is at 56degree then the ECU will give more fuel than necessary if the air is over that temp, meaning running rich. If the air is colder than 56 degree, than the car will run lean... In my opinion, not worth it at all... even if your not necessary going to run really rich or really lean (only a bit) but... Mod to a motor can be done in many ways... some of them aren't reliable, this is one of them

i doubt it will work unless it somehow changes your timing or how your injectors supply fuel

that is how the chip on my gas truck and similar to how my diesels programmer work.

changes injector pulses and such

Mr Celica

and doesn't the ECU decide whether or not its running rich or lean through the O2 sensor, anyways? the little resistor they give you just plugs into a thermometer that reads the temperature of the air coming in...

yeah, your probably right... so what would it do then? is the timing in function of the air temp? if yes, then the timing would be advance if the air is colder, right? and then getting near detonation in some case i believe...

Mr Celica
07-27-2007, 03:36 AM
it doesn't do anything. its a resistor. end of story. hahaha

celicaGT90_05

if the motor thinks its running cold, it burns more fuel reguardless of what the O2 sensor reads, thats meerly what its for, the warmup process which is why winter eats a lot more gas. But they say it doesnt consume more gas...I'd have to say bull shit. They say it makes the stoicheometric (air/fuel) messurement more ballanced, but the ecu is pretty capable of doing that itself

warwolf7
07-27-2007, 10:07 PM
So, it doesn't have anything to do with the timing retard or advance?

celicaGT90_05

It wont adjust timing for you, but when a car is warming up it does usually idle higher

I dont know why but it really works, right when i installed it i put it on a dyno and gained exactly 20whp and 20wft/tq. i heard that thing does alot of magic. :hehe:

LMAO!!... in bright green.... "this is the best HOREPOWER to dollar ratio you will find anywhere!!"...horepower?...ha...shouldnt this chip be sold on the streets?

Or --- ya think the car companies and their horsepower = sales mentality might have jumped on this if it actually worked?

you know if you want to really test it, run down to radioshack and pick up a $.05 resistor...hell I have some sittin in my tool chest in the garage

since when did a FWD to a RWD conversion gain hp? It usually loses whp...

If you guys really want 20 more HP, just stick a "type R" decal on the bumper. It seems to work on Hondah's.

he said it added 50rwhp (rear wheel horse power) in his celica. he was being a smartass. i was just clarifying it for warwolf because he thought that dude was serious. where he was obviously being sarcastic.

racing stripes and decals always add a good amount, too.

hey neutered kittah, you wrote 109 300 posts??

But anyway... even with 230hp more... it's still a gmc :D
230hp more = 5hp gain in a toyo
