View Full Version : Philly has a celica??? ***56k go away***

Damn right I do.

It's been through a lot. Close to 200k miles and it decided to give up the ghost on me last year. It wasn't taken very well care of before I bought it. I paid $1,000 cash for it because I just wanted a 5speed gt after my Autotragic coupe was totaled. (long story involving pizza, a dodge durrango and one pissed off motorist) Anyway. I went to a local vocational school for body work where I spent the past year. It was my project for 6 months before I ither spun a bearing or broke a rod. I'm leaning tword the bearing but i'll let you know once I break the engine apart.

So a few weeks ago I decided to pull the engine from my wrecked coupe. and have it towed away. The pics are pretty bad there from my phone.
the end result wrapped up
The Shell

Here is the recipient. I'm planning to pull it completely apart and rebuild it from the ground up. I kicked around a lot of project ideas but I've come to the conclusion that I want the car I remember back. So the good 5sfe is going into it. I think that I'll be much happier getting my old car back and possibly in the long term trading up to a 6th gen.

These are from a better camera.

I'll keep an update as a log of my progress. It's a "whenever I get time to" project ATM. It's long overdue. At the time of these pictures she's been sitting for over a year.

The list of "To Do" is pretty long.
Pulling the engine
cleaning and repainting all brackets, bottles and fuse boxes.
Cleaning up and Re looming the wiring harness and integrating my new wiring with it (I HATE the dry crackely and dirty plastic loom that is on it now)
Rebuilding the engine.
new bushings and a suspension rehab.
refinishing the body and painting.
I'm kicking around the idea of stitch welding and foam coring but I dunno if i'll autocross it.
Then the interior will be cleaned, re-dyed and updated.

Edit: I changed the pics to links because there pretty big.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
I wish I had just a week of nothing to do but the car that way it would get done uber fast. Sadly the De-Ricing process is going to take forever. I don't know if I'm going to keep the invader front. Mainly because it doesn't fit the stock crash bar. So I'm kicking the idea of the CS and ither making a lip for it or using a wind splitter. so the height all around the car matches.

Also since i'll be doing a LOT of restoration work and documenting everything (for posterity) I might post a write up or two for anyone interesting in keeping there unibody healthy and happy!

I haven't had much time to work on it recently. I have the engine almost out. I just need to organise the extra 5s and KA Spares I have onto engine stands before I pull this one.

I've been fixing everything on the 240SX to pass Inspection. Since it's my daily driver. Wile I was fixing the exhaust leak I found a decent ammount of frame rot. So I've been addressing that. As well as a battery relocation and intake manifold port match / butterfly removal.

Once all is well with the 240. I need to find a job. I've been out of school for way too long and I need to find a shop. A stable job takes priority over all else.

The celica will get a CS front and an interesting paint job. I won't give away too many details. Since it's a little wile off.

thats gonna be fun

i think im gonna need a t chain here soon which involves pulling the head.....unless u know exactly how to get it off w/o fucking up the headgasket, i may just get the engine rebuilt at that point cause i found someone to rebuild the whole motor for 1050, incuding overbore.....hmm 2.6 maybe :wiggle:
