hmm I think mine looks sexy in black.
Depends on the model celi though too. I like that turquoise color but in a convertible, no way. The GTS will be getting a makeover eventually. I'm thinking charcoal IF I don't go with candy red

Black is great on lots of cars not just celicas. White celicas can also look nice if you take care of it and keep it clean so the white pops.

Its greener than it looks like, a little turquoise though. Im not sure why the green wouldnt stick to the photo. Im gonna try to take pictures in other light condition. I found a pic of an Mr2 that gives an pretty good idea about the color. Its very close.

Your car looks fantastic. No such thing as an ugly Celica when it's in as good of shape as yours.

Took a better pic in evening light. Its a stock color that is wery uncommon, at least over here - not sure about the US. It have a magnific lustre a can be well seen over distances. I did some mountainclimbing the other day and the car looked like a rubine on a distance more than a mile. Somehow it was hard to capture the real great lustre on photo, probably because of reflections. But its greener than it appears.

It was one of the rarer colors, but not too rare in the states when considering non-ST185's. It is a 92-93 color named metallic teal. I have this color on my ST185, and it is very rare. There is another one on this site from the Florida that hangs on this site too. I have seen a lot more 92-93 metallic teal ST185's in Europe though. Out of 271 ST185's shipped to North America in 1992, only a handful were metallic teal. Most were red, black, white, and dark gray (possibly in that order from most to least, but only a guess).

I had a 92 ST185 in red and a 93 ST184 in red, and I have to say that when they were shiny, they were beautiful. However, the rarity of teal and the insanely deep metallic lustre that teal has has really grown on me. It blazes like molten metal in bright sunlight. The other color thing is that the less light there is to reflect, the dark the car gets as displayed in the pic you posted.

From subdued in overcast in this pic:
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r236/ajilon_photos/Dragon/IMG_0444.jpg

To reflective as hell in this pic in bright sunlight (and the car was filthy. Also, no access to my good pics. But you can see the corner here flare):

I personally like the super white... maybe because even after 17 years, the paint on my car still doesn't look too bad when I wash it.... other than the holes in the bumper and the messed up hood...

what are some more rare colors? is silver really rare?

There are two shades of silver as far as I know. One is less rare and that is the lighter 90-91 silver just because they made more celicas in that time range. And then the darker 92-93 Charcoal gray metallic is a little more rare. I don't have numbers on them, but as far as I have seen personally, I hardly ever see silver (factory colors) on Celicas. I personally love the color and would have gotten a daily driver GT or GT-S in silver if it was easier to find. I have toyed with the thought of going with the 92-93 charcoal on my ST185, but I can't unless is was a "frame off" restore. I have decided that whenever my repaint comes, it will be a tweaked version of the stock color, maybe a candy-metallic so I won't have to worry about the jams, engine bay, etc.

As for the guy who asked what teal is, I posted two pictures of my car above showing it before you asked that question.

Now you have confused the situation:hehe:

The MR2:

1990-1992: Aquamarine Pearl 742
1993: Turquoise Pearl 746
1994-1995: Dark Green Pearl 6M1

The Celica:

1992-1993: Aquamarine Pearl 742
1992-1993: Teal Metallic 749
1992-1993: Turquoise Pearl 746
(Some late 1991's may have received one of these three colors...maybe)

Here you go, my negras... all the color info spelled out!
http://www.celicatech.com/gallery/files/2/celicacolors.gif
Cav, you can see the slight differences between the three greens in this color chart.

I got lucky when I found my 92 ST185 in the charcoal gray that I wanted. My 90 was just too good of a deal to be picky, and black is beautiful when its clean. I really didn't think I was a fan of the maroon until my lil bro repainted his 90 all-trac. That color has a real depth and rich flavor...simular to the teal Celicas.
