Give us the rundown on your time slip, your mods, and the weather.

Your ET's are low by about 10mph.....

02-07-2005, 09:47 AM
60ft 2.521
330ft 6.860
660ft 10.368
MPH 70.73
KPH 113.83
1000ft 13.308
E.T 15.799
MPH 90.18
KPH 145.13

mods are k&n filter pod/cone...boost at 11/12psi on high boost and 7-8psi on low boost setting....122 kw or 165hp @ wheels @ 10psi

You seem to be down on about 30 hp, perhaps you need to check up on some maintenance! Make sure your plugs and wires are in good order, as well as your dizzy rotor and cap. Then, i would do a compression check, as well as look around for various boost leaks that could be hurting you. You should be sitting much closer to 190hp.

Yes, your 60 foot is what absolutely killed you. Get that down to a 2.0 second 60 foot time, and you will knock down your ET by roughly 1.2 seconds.

Hot day?

the plugs are brand new iridium NGK and leads are new.dizzy cap is cleaned and filed back and no i think american dynos show extra....cause i a mr2 site they go u should make 160-170hp @ wheels standard which is about right cause the rule of thumb for a FWD and RWD car is that the power the engine makes at the flywheel in KW (Kilowatts) is the power she well make at the wheels in hp (horse power)! so a JDm st185 engien comes with 165kw @ the engine/flywheel thus my 165hp at the wheels ont he dyno is right and yeah..she had 10psi and the t-vsv on at the time of dyno..... but now no t-vsv and 11-12psi......so yeah...

There are no "american" dynometers. Your car should be putting down somewhere in the 180's. I put down an even 200 with 11ps and similiar mods.

The crank rating on your engine is 225, theres no way you should be losing 65hp through the drivetrain.

dude for those mods that sounds about right.

to shave half a second, with the car cold - that means keep the ignition off untill the last moment, start her up, with just half a gallon in the fuel tank - or running on the red, get her up to the line slowly without boosting, when you get to the line, hand brake on rev her up to five thousand RPM, raise the clutch and hold it on the engaged edge of the biting point, keep the revs constant, at the changing of the lights, quickly release the clutch whilst dropping the hand brake and giving full hrottle, when you launch it should be harsh and aggressive, it will shock you the first time, by this time - you need second at sixty five hundred rpm's.

clutch changes must be sharp, direct and light, pure motion.

the long debated should i pop it into fourth for the finish line, well i reckon woth your mods your 3rd gear height of power will be dipping, so 4th may give more boost. the boost gauge should only come off full when changing up.

Do that and you are putting it to its limit, the point of dragging.

Can yours withstand that? you may get a fifteen two.

15? ouch

makes your skin crawl to know a stock ws6 with some good tires and a good driver can get 10's...

2001 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am WS6 specs

Curb Weight: 3417 lbs
Layout: Front-Engine/RWD
Transmission: 6-Speed Manual
Type: V8
Displacement: 5665 cc
Horsepower: 325 bhp @ 5200 rpm
Torque: 350 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
Redline: 6000 rpm
0-60 mph: 5.0 sec

at that curb weight i reckon 13.5 seconds stock.

considering a monster modded St205 can hit 11 seconds - i very much doubt a stock wr6 will do 10 secs out of the box.

worth finding out though i guess.

further research proves -

Modded ws6 - supercharged and 100hp nitrous' 2002 ws6 runs a 9.430 sec 1/4 mile http://www.dragtimes.com/Pontiac-Trans-Am-Timeslip-5292.html

more or less stock 1998 ws6 runs 13.6 seconds http://www.dragtimes.com/Pontiac-Trans-Am-Timeslip-3858.html

Edit - stock 2002 spec is 13.6 1/4 mile, that means the guy who spent bucks on his 98 ws6 on the header and intake gained little. http://www.engine-power.com/pontiac/firebird_ws6.html

ws6 WTF is that....

it's only 0.7 seconds faster out of the box than my cheap ST185 - that's what it is.
