Up until about a year or more ago I used to laugh at people who carried fire extinguishers in there cars strapped to the A pillar like there some kind of indy car. Until I saw pictures of someones MR2 burning to the ground wile he took pics from his cell phone.

A Nico member had a pretty bad experience. I figured I would post it up here because it's crazy. Lots of Money and Effort can be completely wasted if you don't keep safety in mind at all times. I feel really bad for him. Apparently the Compressor was too close to the brake master which caused it to cook the fluid and melt through. Following with the oil lines.

That sucks, it hurts to see a perfectly good car burn to the ground.

Since this pertains to cars moving to General Discussion.

to be honest, I still laugh at people who have it on the A-pillar, but not having one in general. My friend with an 86 ranger put his behind the seat, out of the way and doesn't look stupid

My uncle put one in the Z after it caught on fire, I've had no problems keeping it in there. Tends to get a rise out of passengers though when they hear that the car has caught on fire.

Thanks for the move, since it was from another forum I just stuck it in OT.

Car fire is a serious issue. I know lots of people keep the flashy extinguishers in there cars but fire prevention and suppression is obviously a more serious issue than a lot of people take for granted.

The fire on that 240 could have been prevented with a simple heat shield around the Master cylinder.

I keep one behind my seat on the floor. I originally got it after hearing a horror story of some bystanders watching someone trapped in their car burning to death as they could not put the fire out after an accident.
