Does anyone know if there is a difference between 4th gen and 5th gen axles?

I don't know. I would be interested in knowing though. I have found that most of the parts do interchange. If the cars both use the S53, I would think so, but I am not sure about the hub diameter.

***NOTE: this is all from my crappy memory of what others have said***

I think that all of the ST series celicas all have the same spline pattern/size on the hub side so I think it's a matter of finding if they fit into the trannies (don't know if the 4th gen GT/GTS use an S53 or S54). But I do believe that the S54/S53 axles are interchangeable (I was using S53 axles on my S54 and vice versa).

The 3S(F/G)E equipped 4th Gens use an S53.

Hrmm... someone should measure the distance from the hub to the tranny on the 4th gens... I'll measure mine off the 5th.

I'm pretty sure they are the same.

Another good way to check is to cross reference part numbers at the dealership or a parts store like Auto Zone. If the numbers are the same, that should tell you something.

According to a parts crossreferrence they are interchangable but ONLY non-ABS axles and it seems that 88-91 Camrys also used the same axles.
