So my Celica was a total loss it was declared this morning...I will be buying another one though provided I can find one that's low mileage/in great shape.

I know the obvious things to look for such as rust, strange noises, weird smells, etc. but I was wondering if you guys could give me some pointers for when I go to look at the car, and what things I could use to try and knock the price down a bit.

I don't know how much I will be getting for my old car, but it should be in the $4-5k range.

If anyone also knows of any GT-S/All-Tracs for sale in the Vancouver area, please let me know. I've found two of interest so far.

So...here we go again. *cue Whitesnake*

There are four Alltracs and one GT-Four RC for sale within 50 kilometres of me. They're all between $8400-$8900. I wish. I'll never get that much for my car.

I want the same car, I don't want older than 89 because.. well I just don't like the look of the older ones. Preferably a 5th gen, not a coupe though. I loved my car, even though it lacked a certain 3SGTE...not a big deal. But hey if I can get my hands on one of those Alltracs...well. I'd be really happy.

If you really want to knock the price down. Check the gaps and spacing between the doors, hood, trunk, hatch, fenders. Use common sence when figuring where the car could have been hit. IE: Tight gap @ driver door and fender = hit at passenger fender. If you can call them on hiding body damage you'll be able to knock the price down.

Get under the car, literally lay on the floor and check out the rockers, and behind them at the framerails. If the Pinchweld (Sharp petruding line of metal making the seam of the rocker) Is bent or damaged in any way. Or there are any holes in the framerail. Those are MAJOR points. You may not even want the car if there messed up. They come from improperly lifting the car. And will let moisture pass into the rockers and framerail. A PITA to fix properly.

Good luck with your search. I wish you lived closer to PA theres a few nice ones here for sale.

Well I got $7000 for the car, which is $2200 more than I paid for it. Can't complain...only problem is bank won't let me buy another car and continue paying the loan. Have to pay loan then get another loan if I want. There's about $6000 left on the loan because of taxes and financing at the time. *sigh*

That leaves me with $1000. If they can't give me another loan, well, I had a nice run with a Celica but I won't be getting another for a long time....

K well had another talk with the bank and they are letting me buy another car.

Unfortunately there's no way I can nab another $1500+ to get one of the Tracs. SUCKS...but instead I'm probably going to get another GT-S and just use the rest of the $$ to pay of my credit card.

Now I want to know what you guys think of picking up this one as well, no pics but I've requested some:

1977 TOYOTA CELICA GT, 2wd, 4 cyl, 5 spd, 75000 kms local bc car,two doors e,collectable,A/M,F/M,cassette,four good tires,silver color,

$850 they want for it.

lol always about the pix.

Well I finally found one. It's a 92 GT-S, manual, white, blue interior, great shape, just repainted, keyless entry, disabler, new clutch and radiator, 226000km which is a bit high but it's a Toyota not too worried.

Picking it up Tuesday. I'm also gonna post pics of the old car after the accident, not too pretty:
