I have a 1990 ST and I wanted to put a new muffler on it. I keep hearing about flowmaster and MagnaFlow. I want something nice hearing but not loud. Not to loud as a 5.0 Mustang. I need some help with this one?

flowmasters, and magnaflows are more for mustangs if you ask me. If your looking for your car to make more of a deep tone growl then I would go with a HKS,or Greddy muffler.

Overpriced. It's just a canister with fiberglass pack. I will say that HKS does flow test all of there products and keep them upto an industry standard. There was a cat back kit for the NA celica a long time ago but It exeted on the drivers side. So It might have even been intended for the 3sge not the 5sfe.

But not to knock any of you guys but this is like the 3rd muffler thread in the past 30 days in Custom Engineering and Fab.. do you really think it belongs here?

I'm a fan of flowmaster, they dont use any insulation crap just metal plates. I have one on my GP and it sounds awesome, but I dont know how it'd sound on an import motor...

a strait through design isn't always best though, they are nice for forced inductions applications though. One thing I like about flowmaster is they are designed to make a what they call a negative backpressure (wouldnt know how to explain it except for vacume lol) but it's to pull exhaust out of the combustion chamber, which as we all know is a good thing. I've seen people bash flowmaster but I think thats based on their price, they are an awesome muffler though, I got my series 40 for $50 off an ebay store :wedge:

I put took a red cherry bomb, painted it silver, put a tip on it and put it on my wrx. 22 bucks, same freaking thing as a $300 N1.
