Yes, you're correct. They are 4th generation 3SGE Beams that came in some celicas SS-III (i think) and the cadlinas.

yup.

210 and 200 BHP ish respectively.

Looks like a transverse mount that blacktop, I always thought they were only in RWD altezzas.

I dont really know much about these engines, will be interesting to see hwat people say about them :)

Is it true the redtop has vvti on the inlet cam only, and the blacktop is dual vvti?

Black top: 210 HP, IS200 or Altezza, dual VVT-i

Red top: 205 ish, Celica SS-III, MR-2 G-limited

Would it easily fit in, lets say for example a 5th gen light metalic blue liftback gt?

I think there has been 2 recorded successful beams swaps into celicas. I'm positive one was a 5th gen but I think the 2nd was a 6th? From what I recall the mechanical install isn't bad the wiring is a bitch.

I would love to drive one in a MR2. I see rear clips go up on ebay every now and then.

It has been done into a 5th that I know of for certain. It is a common swap in MR2s and IS200s. Wiring couldn't be too hard with several recorded swaps.

Note:

They're both redtops... the one on the top has just been painted black... you can tell because the blacktop was only in the Altezza RS200 where the throttlebody on the intake manifold points towards the front of the engine (front meaning belt side).

Um... they should have had it stock in the ST202 SSIII celicas...

its an At200.

its a lot cheaper to make an SS3 than to buy one with the prices people are asking for them over in the UK these days!
