i finally decided to go ask the guy a block and a half over from me if he wanted to sell his 85 corolla gts. he said it had a broke timing belt, but it looked in good shape for an 85. i gave 800 for it. should have the timing belt done tomorrow. it also needs a new brake master cylinder, power steering seal kit, driver door hinges, tires, belts, interior, paint(not panda), a/c removed... i think thats all for now. it does have the factory lsd.

i dunno man... tht car looks pretty beat up

most of that is the fact that the paint is faded and my cell phone sucks for taking pictures. i does need some body work. new bumpers and a new passenger side fender, gas door, and some body rust removed. but i have a good friend that owns a body shop and they just got a soda blasting setup so i fear no rust now. im gonna just use it as a fun car for a while.

i got the timing belt done today and it cranked up but the idle is way off. the egr is also unhooked and there are some other thing to fix too. i should have the brake master cylinder, plug wires, dizzy cap tomorrow. i also need a title, inssurence, and new tires before its streetable. should i go ahead and delete the a/c stuff? if so what length belt should i run?

as far as swaps go. if i decide to keep it, either a 20v silver top or a beams black top with the 6 spd. i dont want anything too wild since the chasis isnt that strong.

ryan: i cant afford a camera...lol, but really katie wont let me keep it at my house because i would take too many pictures of my cars.

andy: nah, im going camping/fishing friday night with some friends up here. i should be coming down saturday night for my bros birthday, i might swing by after that if the alltrac isnt acting up again. i completely smoked an optima red top in a week. i got a brand new one and another alternator so we'll see. no more rally racing without a welded battery hold down.

sweet. i need a vacuum hose diagram bad. whoever did the head work cant remember where the hoses go back to i guess. they didnt have the tvis hooked up, fpr was hooked to the throtle body(mod?), no egr vacuum modulator or bvsv for egr, i did away with the charcoal canister already, but i dont know where the lines out of the tb go. the diagram in haynes is useless and i cant seem to find a good engine pic that you can see the lines in.

I have two hoods with em on there. and a little notebook with what actually needs to be there. its only 3 things. and the FPR hooks to the manifold onto that 3 prong thing.

donteatbugs
04-06-2007, 02:34 AM
could you email or text me a picture of one of the hood diagrams. i got the fpr one from searching for tons of 4age pictures.or ill just get it saturday. btw. we'll prolly be getting the scion saturday too, my friends backed out of camping so we will prolly be down early sometime.

Was up under the car all weekend. Maybe next time.

I saw a grey '88 Rolla GTS coupe in the local wrecker yard the other day with no visible body/engine damage. You guys are getting me interested in these things. How much do they weigh?

donteatbugs
04-06-2007, 04:08 AM
2200-2400lbs stock. you can always lessen that though. i went and picked up a windshield wiper cowl and alternator for my alltrac while i was up there...it seems my red top died on me and the alternator was for nothing though.

grayscale
04-06-2007, 04:12 AM
What do you think it would take to get down to 1800lbs or so?

donteatbugs
04-06-2007, 04:28 AM
convertible top with no interior or body panels, no hatch, one seat, fuel cell, no exhaust, no a/c, i dunno really but i plan on keeping some of my comforts in mine

andy: we prolly wont make it friday night. we'll prolly just come saturday sometime. ill give you a call.

grayscale
04-06-2007, 04:38 AM
I guess if I get a coupe I'll have a head start on some of that. No a/c, smaller battery, no spare tire, lighter wheels, no backseat, pony keg fuel cell...Any cf or fg body parts for them?

andy
04-06-2007, 05:49 AM
the coupe weighs in at around 2100 with full everything, the hatch is about 2180, strip the insides and everything else it comes down to a nice 1800lbs, nice ehh.
