Finished up the oil pump project today. had an oil leak for a while and finally got under there to fix it. I was debating on whether or not to rebuild the pump when I ran across a guy on ebay selling an oil pump, harmonic balancer w/bolt, and throttle body from a 2000 Camry. Got it all for $30 shipped supposedly with only 64k miles on them. Anyway, it kind of an experiment cause I could never get confirmation on whether these parts would work. But of course they did. I love Toyota. The oil pump was identical. The harmonic balancer was the same but not identical. The one I had had large rubberized center and the Camry one did not, and the Camry was also drilled on the backside for balance and mine was not. I also needed the bolt that came with it. I couldn't believe what a huge difference the new balancer made, it has no vibration left at all. Alas, the throttle bodies are now different though with the Camry one having a 3 bolt hole pattern as opposed to four. Anyway, this is about the 10th parts I've used that was intended for a different Toyota/year and they match perfectly. :bigthumbu

Make a list of 'em Cannon. Then the rest of us poor bastards can benefit! ;)

It would be a short list. I would only want to list the exact parts I've used, ie 2000 Camry oil pump, even though technically you would think any Camry with a 5sfe. I'd like to see all of us do a bit more research and find more stuff like this. Although i do have a very comprehensive brake pad interchange list. If you go to www.partsamerica.com, the parent company of many national parts stores, and choose a part for your car there is a little link that says "see what other vehicles this part fits" and they have a pretty good interchange there.

3/5SF/G/GTE are all in the same engine family.
Alot of stuff bolts up.

Be careful though. Just because it bolts up doesn't mean it works correctly with that engine. Water pumps are a good example.

You are fine on the oil pump though.
The 98?^ supposedly are a bit better too.
