i dont remember who asked me but i remember there were a few people that did.

basicly 215/60/14s will fit on the stock 14s that are at least 6 inches wide on celicas and 5.5 inch rims on camrys.

dont rub at all and handeling is awsome compared to 195/60/14s
and im still on blown struts (that ill replace within the next 5k)

dude you can fit 225/40/17's on a celica with not much problems with a 2 inch drop. Thats what my celica has. Pretty wide tires!

He's talking about wider tires on the stock rims, not new rims. Also remember the GT4 and GTS had the widebody kits to accommodate the width...ST and GT weren't as wide.

Going from 195/60R14 to 215/60R14 doesn't seem like such a bright idea.

The tire has a bigger contact patch, but it's also going to have taller sidewalls, too.

No kidding, a 215/60 on 14s will have a diametre some 6.16% greater, with a corresponding inaccuracy in speedometer readings, and an even higher ride off the ground. Plus, greater unsprung rotating weight. Overall bad idea.

Henry...where have you been, and more importantly, what happened to your site?

You and your site were gospel to a lot of Celica owners -- there's been a lot of chatter about where you disappeared to.

Joe I wouldn't do it. Hmm isn't there a chance that the tires would become lose of the rim and fly right off while on the interstate?

:slap: no nelson, no, that would happen if the rim were a 13.5 maybe

this was done mainly due to the fowllowing

all 4 tires that were very slightly used were $60

the 195/60/14s that were on my car had worn to cords and steel due to lack of funds, and 2 of em were warped

havent had any problems at all, but if i dont sell the car in the next month or 2 im going to put a nice set of 15s on it with some 205/50/15s

and someone please back me up on the tires wont fly off like nelson say they will, i do stuff like this all day and no one has died, this is just for daily driving

Joe I never said they "will" fly off. I was asking you if they would fly off. Most of the post here are against it. I understand you swap tires at toyota but just take a look at this. http://www.1010tires.com/tiretech.asp

and I quote:
"Generally tires should not be mixed on any vehicle. To receive maximum safety and performance it is preferable to keep every tire on a vehicle identical in size, brand, model, rating etc. One of the only exceptions is if the front and rear wheels are different like on all Porsche's and other high performance vehicles"

Have a nice day.

also someone please tell him that that means having non matching tire sizes on your car for example

a camry with 195/70/14 185/65/14 195/75/14 205/60/14

thats tire mixing
