Dont know if this has already been posted, but I saw a 5th gen in sports compact car (cant remember for sure). I was all excited, it looks like shit, but its one of thier projects. So Im thinking cool, ill wait till I get home to read it.... shoulda read it there and not bought it. They are getting a GT coupe ready for a derby. It said this was the 2nd part of the project so this may be old news :wiggle:

I thought the SHO engine was a V6 Yamaha or some such thing. I've worked on 3 of them, and they've all been V6's. (and pieces of complete shit, despite being suprisingly torquey)

The 3rd generation SHOs had 3.4L V8s. Good engines power-wise, but prone to cam failure. The heads are made by Yamaha, I believe the rest of the engine is Ford-built.

"YAMAHA connection

The Yamaha connection needs to be mentioned: Yamaha developed the Toyota 2000GT and was a Toyota partner in the design of most Type G heads. Most engines/heads, including the 3SGE/3SGTE (now in it's 4th generation), the Previa specific 2TZFE/Z (no relation to the old T engines), and the newest 2ZZGE engines were and are still designed and cast by Yamaha. Yamaha also assembles most of the Toyota G model engines.

(The 4AGE and 2JZGE heads are proprietary Toyota designs and manufacture, although many components are still made and supplied by Yamaha). "
