I've started a new thread now that I have finished products. You can view the old thread here-
http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24310

Both of these products will soon be for sale. The first rear brace is going to Denver_whiteST185. By the end of the week we will have pictures of his powdercoated and installed. Pricing for the rear brace will be $150 bare(unfinished), and $200 powdercoated, plus shipping on all prices. Rear brace will fit ST184 and ST185. Solid welded braces for those with no interior panels are available upon request. I also have single bar, two point rear braces, steel $85, steel powdercoat $135. The front brace is yet to be determined.

Braces are completely tig welded and test fitted individually. Stainless versions to come soon. I offer products on an individual basis, which means I build it when you buy it. The reason for this is that I build anything you want. If you want a different design all you have to do is submit it and I will do it. I will have more info and pictures soon and will have this posted in the for sale forum.

A little bit about me. I have been welding, fabricating, and maching for 15 years. I own a side business called OneOff Steel, a custom steel and ironworks outfit. I have tig, mig, and stick welding capabilities on hand as well as lathing and milling, and a 65ton press, and sheetmetal forming equipment. I also do many other projects, so if you have something else in mind, pm me and I'll see what I can do.

I cant attatch my rear bar to the floor. Could you make me one that just shoots straight across? A bit cheaper I imagine.

Also, take some pics so we can see the strut tops, that is the bar not installed.

Yes I can make you a two point brace. Do you need a solid welded one or one that can be installed through the plastic panels? What material and finish would you like? I'll get you some pics of the mounts up shortly.

Sorry, I dont understand the difference. They both would have to go through the plastics, no?

Polished :)

Oh nevermind, i get it. Through the panels :)

Yep, one would go through the panels and bolt to the mounts and the other would be welded to the mounts for use without panels. Did you want one powdercoated or bare? I could make you one in stainless too, with painted mounts. Here are some pics of the mounts themselves (no finish on them yet)-

Polished aluminum would be perfect :) And yeah, no direct welding, as I want to retain my plastics!

Thanks Ted, I hope you like it.

Ted's car is the first it will be going in, and his friend Jon will be doing all the powder coating. If you have any questions about fit and finish, Ted will be able to answer them by next week.

Hello, Mr Grayscale. When you do offee these for sale and get a price I have to respectfully ask that you start a new thread in B&S or shoot me a PM, and I can moved this one for you. Not to be a nag, but we have to keep in line with board rules to keep everything fair and on the level. Great work, and thanks a million for supporting a very under-supported platform.

awesome man, i would be interested in the 3 point rear brace as well, but i do wish to retain my plastics as im am trying to keep the interior stock looking and kleen with minimum damage to plastics. I would like to see a pic of the different rear brace options. Thanks and o if you want to see what i mean check out my cardomain.

So, im assuming those will only work in Hatches? Is there any way you could make one not only for the rear of a coupe for me, but for the engine bay too? (strut mount type) Thanks.

You will need to drill a 1"+ hole in each for the brace to go through and that is it.
As for the options, if you mean the finishes, Ted will have pics of one powder coated after this weekend. If you want stainless or aluminum, I would like to provide pics, but these are qutie expensive to build and I make them on an as ordered basis, so if you would like to wait for one to come up I will gladly take pics for you, other than that I wish I could help more, but I do stand behind my work with quality guarenteed.

I could be wrong here, but don't the coupes have a strut brace built into the body in the rear? Coulda sworn I read that somewhere...

The way the coupe is built basically gives you a brace that is a billion times better than any hatch 3 point out there. Cav, you would never need anything like this unless you chopped away every bit of metal behind you rear seats.

Oh ok, lol nvm then, thanks TNO and Play. What about the engine brace?

TheNefariousOne
03-21-2007, 03:26 AM
Well the rear one at least. The front brace would still be useful to us coupe guys. Kinda makes you wonder why the ST185 wasn't built as a coupe if it has a superior setup...

grayscale

Yea, a front brace for 5sfe coupes would be no problem, not sure about the 4afe though, depends on engine height. If you could gice me a pic like the one below it would be helpfull. Are you interested in a 2 point or 3 point?

Gimme a week here Grayscale. I'd really like to see what Ted's impressions and fitment notes are. I trust his opinion, and would also love to see pics of your pretty bar in his car. :)
Also a shipping quote to Napa, CA. 94558 would be awesome.

The trunk area is much shallower in an Alltrac. This might have had something to do with it.
Also, a bare hatch chassis is probably lighter than a bare coupe chassis. Not positive on this one.
AND
Note the 2 braces on the strut towers. These are Alltrac only.

i would think that the rear subframe wouldn't fit in a coupe. they already had to obviously modify the rear of the car on the hatch to fit the rear differential, carrier, etc...

i thought those braces was for the system 10 tweeters to be mounted?

I'll be posting up how this fits in my car, so well see but according to my friend who has a GT and an Alltrac, the brace should fit as long as it attaches to the middle rear seat bracket...

He means the ones running down the side of the tower.

i just got it today and it looks sweet. although im going to a friends birthday party tonight, so it won't be till tomorrow morning that ill be posting up pics and stuff. first impression is that its lighter than it looks, but it one solid motherf^#$. welds look top notch and it even impressed my buddy who picked it up for me (who drives a track prepped 350whp EVO8)

As you can see, it fits perfectly in an Alltrac too...

I'll probably just sand it down and get a rubber grommet to go around the hole.

Looks good Ted! A rubber grommet sounds like a good idea. I used a paddle bit in the cordless drill to make my holes and it came out pretty nice. Keep those pics comin'!
