So when i bought the car it had a car bra on it, and i never really looked behind it. i didn't even have a clue what bumper i had on my car, lol. so yesterday i decided i wanted to see it. now i know why it had a bra on it.

so phillydrft has a bumper that isn't as badly damaged that he is going to put on my car. it's going to be black for a while, but it's better than how it is. at least until i paint it.

It's okay. Red cars with black front bumpers don't look that bad ;-)

^haha, guess not. we'll end up with the same hood too, different bumpers, though.

You never know, some of that could have been caused by the bra being on there permanently, thus making the bra need to stay on to cover it up.

Yeah a bra messed up my car, but the bra was removed before I got it. The bra protected the nose of the car keeping the color more toward the original color than the rest of the car. Of course, it doesn't matter now as the car is in serious need of paint NE ways.

bras for shorts trip > *

but if u leave them on there for too long, u'll mess up the paint.... but in ur case, he was just trying to hide something lol.... repaint the whole car!! :D

least you don't have the sun damage that most people get from those bras. i've seen a lot of cars where the paint underneath the bra is all bleached and nasty. still those chips look harsh

the pics don't do it justice. it's covered in hairline cracks, and in a few spaces it looks like a dry river bed. it's sad really, lol.

That really sucks -- but atleast you have a plan to take care of the paint! I had a bra on the hood on my '96 Eclipse for a while, and when I took it off I noticed the paint was actually a different color from not being exposed to the sun! I left it on until I sold it...

I know for my freshly painted RC Bumper for my Alltrac, I had a friend of mine put some clear 3M Film on it "Clear Bra". And you can't even tell its on. But suppose to help with chip n nicks. He does it for a living putting it on lambo's and other exotics.

There's a company that uses laminate for that, and it's definitely a decent option for protecting against rock chips. I don't know how it lasts over the life of the car, but looks pretty nice. They install it here in the shop also.

The bra should have never been left on when it gets wet, that's when those things damage the car's finish. It should have been taken off and allowed to dry before putting it back on.
