terrible news.. :brick: driving my celica out of work and it just stalled... the next day at the shop found out that the timing belt and water pump are gone and that it would take 300-400 to fix it so i said forget fixing it... and decided to get a new car ... ACURA CSX!!!!... i know its slow as i got the base model and auto on top of that wit that paddle shifter thing but it was a crazy price so i had to go for it ... but the celica will be sorely missed...

did you already sell it?

03-11-2007, 07:18 PM
not yet... i was thinking about selling it but my brother wants the car so ill eventually fix it and give it to him for his birthday ... i think its the best idea.. i dont think id get much out of it at all

You would rather buy a new car then get a water pump and timing belt... Your logic boggles me.

I just looked those up, and there a fucking civic with a "A" badge on the front.

ummm toyota here does t belts on 4cylinder engines for like 220 bucks out the door

03-11-2007, 11:58 PM
Yeah, that is $100 worth of parts and 4 hours of work to fix...

well see the reason why i was doing that zmile06 is because i dont want to keep spending money for a car thats had many issues ( dont get me worng i love the celica ) but ive spent about 6000-7000 over the months ive had it to get it working and i was just tired of doing that...

cavanagh... yes i know its a civic with an A in front of it... but its not a bad car... i acutally like it a lot.. not as fast and fun to drive but i hope to fix that soon with some mods..

and in terms of fixing the car .. a buddy of mine will do everything for about 150... so during the summer i will get him to do it for me and get that car up and running finally ..

but the worst part of gettin that acura is that 2 friends of mine had a honda and acura.... and i used to rip on them for the vtech.... now i have one !!!

oh and sorry to bring up this old thread but i just signed on here after a while of not loggin on...

After putting 6K-7K into the car wouldn't it be running as good if not better than a lot of cars out there?

04-08-2007, 07:46 AM
6-7k would have bought a brand new longblock from Toyota.

ur tellin me ... the car keeps breaking down... of course not the parts i bought but everything else rite... it just got to a point where i was l can spend this much money for financing for 2 years for a car ... so thats what i decided to do ... it might not have been the best idea but the 6-7 g i put into my celcia would have paid of my csx for about 1-2 years at the least... ah well u live and u learn... im hoping to pay of my csx asap fully so that i can maybee turn the celica into a project car... now that sounds appeling!!!

ah well u live and u learn...

Couldn't have said it better myself. Might not have been the best decision in the end but you did learn from it.

I bought a 92' Jetta one day for $300 in hopes of rebuilding it completely with a budget of 1k. Oh man was I in a mess with nothing left together on the car and it had to be moved. I ended up scraping it to the yard for $100 and buying the Celica.

Maybe one of the best mistakes I've ever made.

(Haha, now I'm a senior! :bigthumbu )
