I say the prelude but the 7th gen might win since the vvti or vvt or whatever kicks in before vtech does not sure tho

7th gen is at 180 horspower ....vtec lude is at 195 ....something tells me the lude might have a better chance at winning the competition...

All stock, I'd say 7th gen because the vvti kicks in earlier. Now if the lude has a Vtec controller, that might make it a different story. I don't know if toyota makes anything like a vtec controller for vvti or not.

Could just be the drivers.

And about the VVTI controll I think greddys new management system can controll Vtec and VVTI...not sure though.

Gt-s with equal dirvers 10/10 times

the lude is only a 15 flat car topps. the gt-s has been as low as 14.7

not to mention the lude is 400 lbs heavyer....they weigh more than a fucking scion Tc

People please... VVT-i does not "kick in". You are thinking of "Lift" kicking in.

And 7th gen GT-S will beat a vtec prelude. My friend used to have a 97 prelude... I raced him back before he put a turbo kit on it. I didn't have anything done to my gt-s yet and he had aem v2 cold air intake, cat-back exhaust, dc header, skunk 2 intake manifold, msd ignition... and I think that's it. We were almost dead even, but I pulled like half a car on him up top. We raced from 10mph to 100+mph. So a 7th gen gts should beat a stock vtec prelude easily with a good driver.

I need to get my buddy's GSR down the track... I have a suspicion that i could give you some competition. :)

Actually, either GSR. There's a 1993 with nothing but intake done to it.

And a 1994 with a JDM B18C swap. It's pretty much nasty, and i don't know if it's just because it makes a lot of noise, but it feels faster than any 7th gen GT-S that i've driven. Secondaries in VeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeTAK is fun.

Damn bench racers... I don't know what the obsession is with "what is faster?" The 1320 isn't the high point of most cars, it's taking the twisties. The Celica is a much better platform for that... but as for your question:

Prelude: 190HP/158 ft/lb @ 2866lb dryweight
Celica: 180HP/132 ft/lb @ 2500 dryweight

The Prelude has almost 400lb on the Celica with only a 10 hp 26 ft/lb difference... you be the judge.

The '93 would be an EASY kill.

Here is a magazine article from 2000. The celica driver wasn't doing so well only trapping 91mph.. was at high elevation or not landing lift on the 1-2 shift.

Yeah, definitely from a dig, which is really all that matters. This thing would walk from a roll i think, though.

I don't see how a GSR would walk a GT-S considering the GT-S is lighter and has more power.

Nope, the Prelude has 26 ft/lb more than the GT-S. The H22A also a 2.2 I beleive, so it has almost 1/2 a liter more displacement than the 2ZZ-GE...

Gearing probably. (It's at 4500 in 5th gear at 80, just about) With non-wal-mart brand tires, i'm pretty confident i could get this thing to at least a 15 flat. And for whatever reason, it keeps up from a roll almost exactly with the JDM GSR.

Like i said, it's just speculation. There are many more aspects besides power/weight ratio, including driver.

BTW, for kicks last night... we dropped a tune on it, and HOLY SHIT. Got the Vtec engagement down to 4500, and it's still revving to 8400. Car is all over the place at WOT on the 1-2 upshift, and spins HARD into 3rd. Timing advance, fixed the maps a little bit. Completely different animal.
