I've been looking for a 2zz tranny for a while and haven't really found one that i'd be willing to buy for the price. A friend of a friend knows someone that recently totalled their 2001 GT-S 6spd. The car has been sitting behind a body shop for nearly 3 months. From what we know, the engine/tranny are in good shape. Called up the body shop to see what they would take for the transmission.. they said they would take $600 for the whole car. The car had a front end collision and rolled over. I have not looked at the car yet, but my friend has. He said the front end damage was not bad, that the radiator might not even be damaged. He said it looks like they totalled the car because it rolled over. Could the roll have damaged the engine from oil starvation?? Anything else I should look out for??

How many miles? I dont think a roll would harm it unless its sat for 3 months rolled over. I would say go cehck it out and go from there. Depending on the interior you could probably part it out and come out even or make a little bit of money. Also you would have a lot of extra parts for your celica. Seems like a win win situation, but I would check it out first.

600$ reguardless is a good deal. Actually I would wanna take a look at the picture but I don't think the car rolling over hurt the engine unless they constantly ran it upside down.

The engine/tranny has 100k miles on it. From what I heard, the lady that owned it never revved high enough to hit lift.. never drove it hard at all. Should be in good shape. I'll be checking it out wednesday.. it's an hour drive from here.

Yeah, I know the body is junk.. I don't need anything from the body. I'll store the engine and keep it for my next project :)

did you tell him you went 14.7 on a stock gts.. also that you are one in 3 people to ever do this?

If the car remained running upside down it'd seriously damage the engine... and if the transmission was still in gear and rolling upside down it might do damage to that also (unlikely because I think those transmission are still the splash type that most toyota manual trannys are).

OK, GOOD NEWS!! I found out that the car WAS NOT rolled over. It was in an accident in a parking lot. Driver lost control (i dont know how this happened lol) and hit a palm tree with the front driver side corner and messed up the suspension, fender etc. So needless to say, I'm picking it up tomorrow morning for $600. Here are the pics.

Going to use the engine for an mk3 mr2 shell if I can find one. 2zz+turbo+mid-engine+rwd=fast&fun :)

The seats are leather and are in GREAT shape. I think they would look sexy in MY alltrac.. hehehe :) The steering wheel is busted because of the airbag, but the outside part is great.. you would just need a center peice. I wanted to keep those for my alltrac.. but as Andy knows, I always have my price LOL

nah, i wish it was. I have a yellow top in my '01 gt-s and it's great. I think that battery is a duralast or something.

What a sweet buy...man that's totally awesome you could sell off parts in that car and make more than you paid, or just use the parts for your own car...I wish I had a parts car :P.
