So short Q/answer..Does anyone have a close up pic of how the 1st gen 3sge distributor should look installed?..i took mine out re-installed it and it back fired and started to Dentinate (sp..i know) so it must be in wrong...Pics Anyone?? :(

You have to loosen the lock bolt and use a timing light to determine the correct timing.
Adjust the dist as necessary to achieve the timing, then tighten bolt.

There is no specific placement.

Jump TE1 and E1 and adjust to 10* BTDC.

Jeremy is definitely right, but if you need to start from scratch you'll have to find TDC for #1 cylinder and then position the rotor so that it is pointing to the #1 sparkplug wire just to get in the ballpark. #1 cylinder is far right side of engine next to timing / accessories belts. Turn the crank shaft with a socket wrench until the mark on the crank pulley lines up with 0. The camshaft marks should be as shown - or both cam lobes for #1 pointed out.
Then install the distributor so the rotor is pointing toward #1 spark plug wire. You'll have to adjust timing from there.
