Hey Everyone,

Been lurking for the last 2 months or so reading up on the wealth of knowledge stored. I have to say, this is BY FAR the best Celica forum I have ever seen.

Here's a little about my car history:

I've cut my automotive teeth by wrenching on a number of Isuzu Stylus's I've had over the years. They're fun rare cars with peppy 1.6L DOHC engines that have nearly a 8k redline. Another neat thing of note is the suspension was designed & tuned by Lotus. Also, the Lotus Elan M100 shares the same engine as these cars, albeit it's turboed.

Here's my current one:

Here's my 1990 Celica. I must say, It blows my mind how great this car has been. I'm making it my mission to keep this car running to at least 300k miles...Im currently at 230K.

No making fun of the black hood. The previous owner must have thought flat grey primer was hot stuff, as thats the color it was when I bought it. Instead of matching colors, I just went for the faux CF look because it was cheaper.

And here's my wifes car. A 1991 Isuzu Impulse XS. It shares the same engine as my Stylus does.

Anyways, enough with forcing my obsession on everyone.

I look forward to chatting with you all.

Wow man great to see another member join the boards! I always have noticed that on some isuzu's it would say lotus on the side of it. One of my neighbors back in my old apartment building had one. It was a hell of a bucket. Looked really fun to drive though.

Kind of like the Elan as described by another member "God those things are a pile of s*** but boy are they fun to drive."

Welcome to CelicaTech.....indeed, this is the primo Celica site  I won't make fun of your black hood - your '90 appears to be in very good condition, and here's hoping you see the 300k mark with it :)

Impulses are cool.

Did you guys know you can take teh 1.6 liter turbo motor in an Impulse and swap it into a Geo Storm?

Thats a fast little light turboed car.

Yummy.

Impulses alone are cool. 160hp, awd and 2500 lbs.

Cant beat that with a stick.

They are fun cars...tight handling. Mine are only 130HP though, No turbo, However the turbo components from the 91-92 Impulse RS AWD will bolt right on. Only internal difference between a 4XE-1WT & a 4XE-1W N/A is the oil squirters and lower compression pistons. Some of my fellow Forum Members on Isuzone.org have run 12-13 second 1/4 mile times on these cars with minor mods. (FMIC, increased boost, modified IHI Turbo compressor wheel <--that last mod is famous in the Isuzu community...all 20 of us...we're just a bunch of enthusiasts clinging to a car we have to make our own parts for.)

Geo Storms are indeed actually Isuzu Impulses rebadged by GM, given slightly different body moldings and given a weak SOHC 90hp 12V engine for the base model. (130HP DOHC went in the GSi 'performance' model) They were all built in Japan and shipped over.

...now look what you've got me doing...Im rambling... :)
