I don't think so.... it's just a backwards FWD tranny. :P

If it was FR layout, then yeah, but it's transverse.

ROFL. I clearly was not thinking correctly. Anyway, there were some people over at club4ag.com who were talking about swapping in a 3sgte into their corollas but Im not sure where that went. The plan also included using some supra parts as well. but im not sure where that thought went at all.

Not sure what that link just above is, but you'd either need to get the BEAMS 3sge transmission (as stated), or get a 2se bellhousing (out of a 3rd gen non-usdm celica) and mate it to a w58 transmission. Hope that helps.

That link just above is pretty much exactly what you just said but offers a more in depth answer and a few other options... you should click it.

"The "IS" stands for "Intelligent Sport".[1] The first generation Altezza (codename XE10) was launched in Japan in October 1998, while the Lexus IS 200 made its debut in Europe in 1999 and the IS 300 in North America in 2000 (as a 2001 model). The second generation IS was launched in 2006."

The is200 came in both BEAMS and 6-cylinder flavor.

no, the RS200 had the BEAMS engine.

Hrmmm... then what engine was in the IS200 4-banger version with 200hp?

^Disregard that, i was confused.

And mistakenly believed GT4 stats too much.

They just have the IS200 and the RS200 both labeled as is200, but the 4-banger as the is200(J).

Thanks guys, looks like I'll be abandoning this option due to non availability of suitable transmissions. What about the 2ZZ GE motor, could it be fitted to RWD and what trans?

Well, with an adaptor plate, i'm sure you could make it work with something... but with what, i wouldn't know. :(

I stand partially corrected. :D

There is no IS200 in Japan.
It is the Altezza period.
Once the Altezza dissappeared [when Toyota started its Lexus Japan] it became the IS250 or IS350.

The RS200 is a model of that, like our GT or ST.
It is the ONLY one that came with the 3SGE. 210 hp.

I hadn't realized Europe got a IS200....
However it was only available in a 6 cyl.

And for the record, all Altezza/IS200/300 are BEAMS....
BEAMS is simply VVT-i.
