Iv been throwing around the Idea of completely parting out the 92 3sgte that I have and buying a JDM complete 3sgte since I have done the math and rebuilding this bottom end would cost more than to buy a new one and to buy a new one would cost alot more than to buy a complete used 3SGTE.

so If I were to part out this 92 3SGTE how much could I get for it? It ran fine it could use a head job since the valves were making noice.

does anybody have the PN for the 3sgte short block from toyota?

if i were you I would go and get a new 3sgte (used anyways) if you were supposed to rebuild it the way u would like or back to oem it would either be cheaper or be more expensive on how you want to rebuild it. like for instance using the old pistons and just replacing the rings or if u want to replace the pistons with new. depends on what your exactly doing. Im rebuilding my gf's brother paseo lol 5sfe or something (he wanted cheap rebuild so we just changed the gaskets and replaced the rings and rebuild the head (new valves, springs and etc) total about 300-400 bucks minus the labor.

I think the Mr2 head will suffice but then i might be concern about the head valves and exhaust valves maybe there different iono but good luck bro.

Trah, I appreciate your help but if you dont know the 3sgte please dont chime in. The 3sgte head/block is identical for the MR2/All-Trac.

Im sorry, I dont want to sound mean but my situation requires people that know the 3s in and out since I have to convert an MR2 3sgte into an All-Trac MR2 and the rest of the cluster fuck that the previous owner left me. You posting that the valves are different does not help me one bit.

other difference in engines are the hose locations and water passages and etc... there are other electrical lines taht are different from the mr2 from alltrac you would have to source it from a alltrac 3sgte. other then that good luck :wiggle:

Not to add another tech-insufficient post but you'll probably have better luck with this in FI forum. GL

To avoid clusterfuck... dude. Just get the JDM engine. Make sure it's in good running shape, freshen that bitch up, and pop it in.

I don't know as much as other people on here, i'll readily admit, but it just seems to me that trying to get the MR2 engine to work in there, on top of fixing the head issues.

Sounds like JDM will be cheaper, and easier, and harder to screw up getting it in. :P
