I cant find a website detailing the diffrences in the alltracs by year. Can anyone just tell me or tell me a site that lists it? I know in the MR2's they got bigger brakes and a LSD tranny etc.

ST165: no change 88-89
USDM ST185:
- 1990 is the only year that System 10 head unit is double pieces.
- some JDM 1990 has twin-pot front caliper.
Most revisions were after 1991
In 1992 car got:
- new ECU, wiring, higher fuel cut
- shorter throw shifter and new shifter assembly
- lighter curb weight
- new style emblem and tail lights
- 9-stud exhaust manifold replaced 7-stud exhaust manifold in late 92
- throttle opener added in 93
- 93 is the only year that came full option (leather, system 10, alarm, sunroof, etc...)

Feel free to add things I might forgot.

The RCs had a Torsen rear, as well as supposedly some of the 92-93s.

Dumb question what does a throttle opener do? I cant locate a reliable site to tell me.

It's supposed to keep the idle at normal level.

All had LSD for the center diff.
Some had a TORSEN rear diff, which is LSD.
Some had an open rear diff. Most had open [except for the homologation models, of which the RC is one].
All had a open front diff.

Pre revision is 90/91, post is 92/93.
90 has a different, softer cloth interior.
Pre has Toyota written on the faux cf piece on the front of the hood.
Post has nothing.
Pre has no T emblem on the hood.
Post does.
Pre has Celica written on the rear center light.
Post doesn't and is darker.
Post has the T emblem on the rear trunk.
Pre doesn't.
Post has better ECU diagnostics.
Different alt and alt harness [short harness from the main engine harness to the alt] for the two. Can be interchanged with each other together.
Different dist cap and plug wires. Can be interchanged together.
Some differences in HVAC controls I believe [just different styles].
1 or 2 colors were only available for pre or post. Most are available for both though.
Pre and early post have a 7 bolt exhaust man.
Post has a 9 bolt. The alt bracket is different for the two. A 7 bolt man will work with either bracket. A 9 bolt will only work with the 9 bolt bracket.
I believe pre has a ac water temp switch while post doesn't.
Pre has no throttle opener.
Post does [even the 92].
I believe there are other wiring connectors that are different, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. No big deal though.

That's all I can think of myself.
I'm pretty sure I missed a few things.

System 10 wiring changed between 1990/1991 and 1992/1993, but i believe that had to do with the faceplate change that Gary mentioned.

90 only is a two piece.
The pre and post [and the 90 I believe] all have different connectors for the rear of the headunit.

Wow thats really confusing, its not really clear which ones have what.

But they all are basicaly the same, which is always good.

I'm hoping when my new job starts up i can buy a all-trac in a couple months. Maybe evn a beat up all-trac and giving it a new paint job or something.

Anyways thanks for the listing really helpful!

Pre revision is 90/91, post is 92/93.

If you take a minute to read it carefully, it is pretty clear.....
Now you probably won't be able to remember it all right at once.

This is what im confused about

Some had a TORSEN rear diff, which is LSD.
Some had an open rear diff. Most had open [except for the homologation models, of which the RC is one]

What is the RC model an and homologation models? And how do you tell if they have tosen rear diff?

dont worry about the Homologation models, none were sold in North America and If you can find one thats been imported you will know, the price will tell you.

Alltracman please correct me if Im wrong but,

Pre has Toyota written on the faux cf piece on the front of the hood. Post had nothing, Japan models had Celica on the Faux CF piece, and some UK models.

You're right.
Sorry. Rear only has Celica.
I'll fix it in my post. :P

Hey Jeremy, do you perchance happen to know which wires need to be switched to make the ac work without throwing code 51 in a USDM AT with a JDM ECU?

Sorry for ressurecting an old thread, but this was the closest my search turned up.

Thanks,
Mario

- lighter curb weight

how much weight are we talking about here? that's VERY surprising, as cars tend to get heavier with each passage of time... and more curious about WHERE the weight loss is coming from? can't be the changes in the badging and stuff like that...?

this is based on published curb weight figures, correct? do you have the numbers? (or know where to find them? my VIN sticker only lists GVWR, not curb weight.
