View Full Version : checking transaxle fluid

I (now) have an '03 rav4 2wd. Just had the transaxle flushed. When I checked the trans. fluid at home, it read about 1/2" higher than the "HOT" mark. I am not having any transmission issues though (shifts are smooth, no vibrations).

Should I drain the trans fluid a little anyhow, or would the high mark not damage the transmission (since the transaxle is not pressurized?)

having too much fluid in an auto tranny is just as bad as having not enought fluid, but if its only a half inch higher than the hot mark when the car is hot then I wouldnt see a problem.

Parts of it are pressurized...
I would drain a SMALL amount.
If you don't drain too much you can always drain more.....
