Since it's a supercharged 6, I don't quite understand your question.

Aye, that does look like a V6 to me.

It's basically the motor out of the Rav4 with a supercharger on it and I'm sure some other nick nacks :) I think they can be tuned to make 315hp WITHOUT a SC, so imagine the possibilities :)

T-spoon
10-26-2006, 06:35 PM
Whoa there Toyota fans. That motor is a 3.5l V6. You'll find it in the 07 Camrys, 06- Rav4 and the 05- Avalon. I'll believe that supercharger when I see it actually available. TRD has not been doing a whole lot lately and I'll be shocked if Toyota makes a supercharger available at point of purchase. You can't even get a tC with the supercharger on it, you have to buy the car, then buy the supercharger outright and pay them to install it.

No Scion costs a quarter million dollars like I'm sure the top end Supra will though :-)

Yes you can get a TC with a supercharger because I know a girl at my work that has a Blue TC with a supercharger. and on the dash it has a badge saying it is a limited edition something or other.

As T-Spoon said, it's a Supercharged 2gr-fe engine that's found in the new Camrys and also in the new IS350. In camry form, it makes 276hp WITHOUT the supercharger, and i believe it makes a bit more than that in the IS350.

I don't care if it's a concept or not... it's a concept that makes me cream. It was a nasty-ass engine before the supercharger.

VQ what?!?!

It must be a dealer installed option. You can not order one from the factory with it, but you can have it dealer installed after delivery.

Thats the supercharged 2GR-FE thats going to be used in the upcoming TRD Toyota Aurion which will be sold in Australia.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2f/AurionS1m_m.jpg

New TRD Aurion - Coming soon

From one of the most widely respected motorsport stables in the world, Toyota Racing Development, comes an all new, purpose-built high performance sedan - the supercharged 3.5litre V6 TRD Aurion. The new vehicle will offer a complete package with the accent on refined power and athletic driving dynamics.

Developed for Australian driving conditions, the new TRD Aurion will redefine how high performance driving is measured. And it is just the first of the new TRD models.

Egads. Like I just said, you have to buy the car, then you have to buy the supercharger, then have it installed. You can't have it financed into the purchasing price of the car like you would with a package etc. Scion is very rigid with sales policies, so it's not something that is going to vary from dealer to dealer. My point was that Toyota isn't into FI right now on their production models.

It's funny, all the austrailians are complaining they didn't get the V6 Rav4 but they are going to get that thing. Pretty good trade if you ask me, and now Toyota is bringing them the Rav4 V6 too! :)

Honestly they get all the cool shit... Plus their street racing scene is unreal.. another thing theres no emissions at all in ausi. Its crazy... there parts are sold for nothing but in general its mostly V8 rwd American Domestic cars that are made over there.... theres just really weird shit too as far as ford and gm goes over there..... like they they day I found out that gm makes the ls1 elcamino over there.... and the step below that is a 3800sc motor... I meen thats pretty cool stuff.... But I would like to go there some day just to see all the bizaar type of cars they have.

That motor looks awesome and if its over 300hp on a v6 thats pretty cool too. I just wonder if its going to mate up with a e153 bellhousing... if so that would be one had ass swap ina celica/mr2. Prolly going to suck being that its a fwd car though :(

It'll be a nice chunk over 300hp. That engine already makes over 300hp in n/a form, depending on application.

Australia does have emissions. Some states are more strict than others, but they do have them. I used to live there. I owned an S13 Silvia and a Y33 Cima-Cedric with mods on them. And they are strict on modded cars. The biggest difference is that because they drive on the left it is easier for manufacturers to import their RHD models.

Toyota has yet to produce a manual that mates with the engine, so until then, the VQ reigns supreme.

Yeah, after they canceled the Celica and replaced it with the tC, I swore never to buy a Toyota/Lexus or get my car worked on at a Toyota dealership.

Toysport has a couple of interesting articles on how Toyota transitioned from an awesome enthusiasts company to the boring one it is today:

We are about to get another aussie car. The Grand Prix is going to become a 4door rwd v8 that weights ~3,200lbs. It even looks decent.

That car looks great. At least compared to what toyotas been crapping out the last 6 years.

A new VQ comes out at the end of the year in the G35. Its been a top 10 engine for a decade now. I have a feeling its going to be harder to beat.

True... until you look at the Lexus lineup.

The is-series is awesome, but it's no longer the little sports cars that we celica-lovers like.

But i would still totally rock one, and be ecstatic about it.

But in terms of affordable enthusiast cars, yeah... looks like it's over.

After i grow out of Celicas, which will hopefully be never, i'm moving over to Nissan.

I don't agree about lexus (at least if you're talking about the new ones). The new IS350 weighs more than 3500lbs (gotten from lexus.com). This means that it pulls off 174 hp/ton. Which ain't amazing.

My main problem with lexus though is that that part of the company is only trying to compete with european cars. Specifically Mercedes. No offense to Mercedes, but their cars do not compromise toward performance when they could have really fancy (and heavy) crap instead. So toyota follows that lead, and they get mild performance in a heavy car.

I'm already sick of new toyota. That's why I just keep looking at their old cars.

Yeah... i agree on the weight issue... but that can be fixed, and also more power can be added. I would never keep a celica stock for the same reason. It's too heavy with not enough power to be amazingly entertaining.

The is350 is a great starting base compared to a lot of cars out there.

I mean... the TT Supra weighed in very comparable to the IS350, and really, only made about the same amount of power.

I'm not saying it's a sports car, but definitely something that i would drive, and of course, modify to be a decent all around car. If i want a dedicated track car, i'll either save up for a Lotus, (Toyota engine FTW) or build a 240sx.

174hp/ton isn't amazing, i totally agree... but it's a FAR sight better than pretty much every celica ever made.
