Used to have a max, VG30E , pretty nice engine for its age.

Wield the soul pole at 'em. Chase 'em around the garage for a few minutes while yelling "I pity da foo!" If that's not motivation to fix the shit up, I don't know what is.

soon as i walk in the dorr, guy said he had a radiator ordered , said all i had to do was buy coolant and a thermostat

so got that and hopefully it will be done by the end of the day, and have the heater fixed and the fans operational, as well as check the waterpump, and make sure it dosent have a bhg

I wouldn't worry too much....after all, it's a, what, 18 yr old vehicle....shtuff's gonna break/fail eventually. I consider the annual repair costs of an old car vs the payments/increased insurance of a new car, and old usually wins (except in the case of my late, great Olds 88...LOL...that car sucked out loud). Sounds like yer gettin' the major bugs worked out early...hopefully the rest will just be routine maintainence/wear and tear costs....good luck, bro

did some of those maximas come out as front wheel drive?

sorry, just looked it up. they did. but if yours is 89 is probably the little 2litre six with rear wheel drive, no?

81-84 were RWD, that was the 1st generation of the Maxima. I believe that generation was under the old Datsun name. All 85 and up were FWD.

My Mom bought an `84 Datsun Maxima Diesel brand new. That was an intersting car. To this day she still wishes she had kept it.

And I am pretty sure that all the Maximas after `85 were FWD. I could be wrong though.

Yup, I'm 100% sure all the Maximas we got in the US after 85 are FWD. Don't know about Australia though.
