I have a new addition to the family.

Sorry Snakeater, this one was closer and needed me. Not to mention the price was right.

I got an `89 Celica GT. Gun Metal Grey. 209k on the ticker, fresh timing belt, clutch, slave and master cylinders and a fresh tune up.

5 Speed.

3SFE.

Needs a radio.

I should be picking her up in about a week. As soon as I get the cash from selling my Mustang.

$750 cash. Kid was gonna settle for $700 but he had a handful of reciepts totalling over $1500 for all the work, and I felt kinda bad for him. That and the car got to me. I hope she and Chaos get along.

I will get pics up as soon as I pick her up.

Small dent in the passenger fender that will pop right out once I take possesion, other than that, flawless with no rust. Southern car FTW,

Picked her up this evening.

First impressions so far are not bad. I don't like the seat as much as Chaos', it doesn't cradle. The pedals are closer together, and all the same height, I like that. The tranny shifts very smoothly, no grind (I am used to driving tractor trailers, so I am having to relearn how to use a clutch.) The interior is in great shape, almost all the dash lights work. The tires are low on air right now, the car has sat for 10 months or so, so this weekend I am gonna put my 17"s off of Chaos on her and see how the suspension feels.

She is in most definite need of a header though. The cat is clogged up, and really making it hard to judge the potential of the 3SFE. It bogs over 3k and stutters at a cruise with minor pedal modulation.

Which leads me to my question.

Will a 5SFE header (aftermarket/Camry) fit the 3SFE? Are there 3SFE specific headers?

Also, will the 5th Gen shifter fit it? I assume that the 4th, 5th and 6th Generation Celicas are all closely the same outside of body panels, how true does this hold?

I will get some pictures up soon, it is dark right now.

This weekend she is gonna get her lights smoked, a new headunit, a header (if my questions are answered) and a new set of wheels. Window tinting will be next, and then I will have a reliable DD so that Chaos can get her much needed R&R.

Experience.

EDIT

Oh, you were asking how to tell. Sorry.

You can feel it basically. If the car won't accelerate as well, the exhaust note sounds odd. It doesn't want to rev, or make power. It will hold a lower idle find, but acts like it is strangling to rev. All signs.

It is most easily recognized as a loss of power.

Crappy pics, it is still dark, and cold, and I left my keys inside.

So here are a few quick ones, if you look close you can see Chaos. ;)
