I have a '98 GT-GTS and a guy who often parks next to me has a '98 GT. Neither of us can find anything different in our cars except color and after-market stereo systems. Can anyone tell me what the difference is if there is any?

I can't find evidence there was a GTS in 1998. So I guess the difference if any would be available options such as leather.

The Car Fax report that I got prior to buying it stated that it was a "GT/GT-S". Neither of us have leather seats. Everything is the same except our after-market sound systems and color.

Well that stuff is highly dependant on the monkey that entered the info int he first place. You should compare door stickers, that might reveal more info.

Maybe the original dealership just slapped a gts on hatch?

From the door sticker, I can't find a difference. The NYS title discribes it as a GT/GT-S. My friend says that his title calls his a GT.

Does it say GTS on your car?

They are the same. As far as I know, there is no 6th Gen GT-S.They dropped it and made ST/GT only here in the states, in `98 or `99 they dropped ST and made only GT. For the 7th Gen it was GT and GT-S only.

there is a 6th gen gt-s, someone on automotive forums has posted pics of it, as well as i have seen one in my town (an old lady drives it so why would she put new badges on it) they exist but i believe they ceased production of them in mid-late 90's (97 i believe) i know 95 has a gt-s becuase ive seen one and its a hatchback

head over to 6gc.net, theres a few 6th generation gt-s's....lol its like the myth that a ct-20B never exists, even though it does, azian_advanced on 6gc has a 95 gt-s as well as ive seen carfax reports of VIN#'s of 6th gens that say gt-s in them, there is a guy over there that is the original owner of his 94 that swears when he bought the car it came wit the gt-s badge.

pic of said gt-s

Say what you want about the facts on Wikipedia, but it as well states, no 6th Gen GT-S.

It could be just badged like that by the dealership. Kinda like what they did with the 5th gen ST, they put some extra options on it and badged it STX.

Actually, it's NOT badged as a GTS. But if I run the VIN number, the info comes back as a GT/GT-S.

I dunno if you read the whole thing Murg but just to clear up every1s missunderstandings. NO GT-S for the 6th Gens in america, BUT...
In Canada, the GT Liftback with "sports package" is badged GT-S.

So every1 is right. OK?

GTS is available in Canada, not in the US at all.

GTS has a more rigid suspension.

End.
