i know some of u guys have done the swap,

have u ran it in the 1/4 mile yet?
what were ur times.

i want to run mine but i dont wanna snap an axle like my buddy.
i have the tran. from my 5s. bolted on,
no peformance clutch either! i know i should have bought one
but i plan to bolt on the mr2 tranny in the near future.

btw if there is a thread on this i didnt find it!

With average tires and stock boost, expect mid 14's at best, trap speeds approaching 100mph.

Good tires and suspension, up the boost, 13's should readily be yours. Depends on the driver.

With my new setup, I will be going back early october with the goal of very low 13's, crossing my fingers! The best I've ran to date, was a 14.1 with shitty tires and without the front mount.

Sean running 13's FTW!

Half-tracs really seem to have a problem on the 1/4 for the simple fact of high boost + high power + average tires = bad traction

I'm guessing if Sean puts on those BF's that come stock with the SRT4's and with his new setup, he will easily run a 13.3 or around that mark.

lol... Im hoping this new setup does not include a ct26 ... do you have the timeslip of the 14.1? I would like to see it? Whats this new setup and what 60 ft time did you get with the 14.1 pass?

When I had my 6gc that was swapped on the s trans I would roll out of idle and let it rip.

On a e153 out of a mr2 I would slip the clutch at 4k

Depending on how you drive most likely youll be in the 14s... usually mid to low sounds right at around 13-15psi on a celica with bolt ons like exhaust and what not.

The biggest problem with a swapped celica is tha trans. The S series trans you cant get traction and the e153 out of a mr2 the gears are to long :(

Azenis
15 psi
Front Mount
Megan springs w/gr2's
Minor weight reduction
3 inch exhaust
Intake

hopefully this will net me in the 13's. These are pretty normal mods. Though.. I have no drag experience, and I've yet to run this car, hah. :D

lol ive never ran my car at the track. to be honest ive hardly even drove the thing. maybe 40 miles at the most. i need a new inner axel but took me some time to figure that out. luni told me about some stronger axels that you can buy that wont break so easily i forgot what he called them, mite want to check into those. if you put any type of power into the 3s be prepared to blow your 5s tranny to bits. just fork out the 1500 for lsd and axels and be done with it. burnyd seems to know the most about goin to the drag strip pm him and if hes feeling nice he'll tell you everything you ever wanted to know to get you where you wanna go. and if hes grumpy hes going to tell you to lick your own asshole and then go buy an mr2 :slap:

take a looky here, you mite want one of these....

Ricksta
09-21-2006, 08:52 PM
i need a new inner axel. and on top of that my front bumper just about got ripped off after towing it to my new house. so its going to sit for awhile. i dont have any extra cash at this moment to fix the damn thing.

Sean

Listen, SRT-4's are hitting 13's damn near STOCK with 220hp, 250lb's of torque. The are right around 3100lbs, no reason we cant follow suit.

I think its going to take some privateering in suspension, tires, launch methods, power band selection, gearing inquiries, etc. I personally have put Lots of thought into this, and have quite a few passes on the strip in my GT2. I have bought a series of parts that will hopefully get me closer to my 12 second pass goal. I will report back early october with my successes and failures for all to see.

Sean
09-21-2006, 11:59 PM
haha, right, my blown struts, 3200lb curb weight and lack luster malshifting transmission probably has nothing to do with it.

No worries, with time and money!

PS, doesnt take much to be a better driver then me ;)

Ricksta
09-22-2006, 12:30 AM
blown struts? those konis are new wtf?

Sean
09-22-2006, 01:15 AM
No, he was referring to my last time at the drag strips.

This round I've added:
Front Mount Intercooler
Blitz Electronic Boost Controller with Speed Map based Boost Control (hello traction)
Koni Struts all around (no more weight transfer off the front wheels)
New Motor Mounts and Crossmember Bushings (still to come)
And some BFG sticky tires :)

Should be a very entertaining trip to the strip. Only think killing me is this tranny is tired :(

Tranny problems can really be frustrating. I had a <2 sec 60ft run ruined by not being able to get into 2nd gear. Car just sat back down and putzed until it finally went in. Very sad, but just goes to show how much of a handicap it can be if the tranny isn't cooperating.

Atticus
09-25-2006, 09:24 PM
Yeah and if the MR2 Tranny isn't holding up then the 5sfe tranny should be a horrible choice for those who want to do the 3sgte swap and use the 5sfe tranny and buy a clutch and flywheel like i want to do... :(.. wut other options can i have now.. v6 camry tranny?

^^ Nah there not really that hard to find car-part usually go for around 400. Its better than getting a mr2 tras and having to buy all the shifer parts from toyota like I did to get lsd :(

It wasn't too terrible after I fixed the slave cylinder pipe that was broken, but it did get progressively worse after a lot of driving. That happened to be about the 10th pass of the night, had to throw in the towel there. Since have ditched the POS, just haven't got around to updating sig ;) Northern rustbuckets with new paint to hide it FTL. :thumbsdow

lol ... well a 20g really doesnt do much until around 17psi... well atleast on a dsm engine I think it might be more than 17psi but yes.. you definately need to get a better fuel system and something to tune it with and if your running high 13s now just think of what youll get later on. nice 60ft btw.
