View Full Version : Anyone ever swap a auto 22re pick up to 5spd?

Ok heres the current delema... truck blew up a trans.. its a auto. And auto 2wd
s are really hard to come by.. junkyards here want over 500 for them. Now the 5spd versions go for around 150-250 low mileage which is just funny.

Now I called the one junkyard they are willing to give me a clutch + flywheel + clutch plate so I could go ahead and swap othe whole trans over...

Only thing I havent looked into if the trans on the 5spd has hydraulic lines yet... if so its going to make things interesting to swap it over.. has anyone done this?

no but me and dynamic73 swaped his 85 gts from an auto to a manual

only thing i know of that he had any issues with is his cruise control and bolting the top part of the clutch down

*note 2wd truck with 22re uses same w58 trans as 3rd gen celica*

see toyota nation or ill try to get him to reply on here but he is usally on celica-gts.com

My 77 has a hydraulic clutch, so I imagine a newer toyota would.

To my knowledge (limited)...all w58's had hydraulic clutches.
