i was thinking of looking for a

90-91 Corolla GT-S
or
86-89 Celica GT-S

i know the corolla has a 4age 1.6L rated at 130 hp w/o TVIS i heard. the celica is with 3sge 2.0L rated 135 hp w/ TVIS.
the corolla will be slightly lighter unless im wrong, with pretty close power compare to the celica with alittle more power and weight. overall who would handle better since both are FWD. this is important to me as well for DD. which would you rather go with? those are just my two choices on my head.

i dont want another honda or other car. and i never own, been, or drove those 2 cars before.

The Corolla GT-S has better aftermarket support, if that makes any difference. I'm betting it would get better gas mileage, too.

They're pretty hard to find. I originally wanted to get an AE92, but I couldn't find one and settled for my '90 GT. I really regret it, the AE92 is better than the ST184 in nearly every way.

yes i was told that 86-89 celica GTS were better then 90-93 celica GTS.

also im craving for 88-89, <--- i think, corolla FX-16 GTS...

Id probably go with the corolla just to have something different. RWD would be fun.

the AE92's are the newer, FWD ones...

for a DD i would probably go with the corolla

Both good cars but I'm biased: 86-89 GTS.
I've got an 88AllTrac and an 89 GTS and if I found another good 162, I'd buy it.

I was using a 90 Corolla SR5 for my DD the last 2 years with AMAZING gas mileage. WAY better than my 91 Celica GT. Neither of my cars are super cool GT-S's with AWD or anything, but I can agree that the corolla is the clear gas consumption winner. My GT is hands down way more fun to drive, though, looks better, and is way quicker. So eh. :P

The aftermarket for the Corolla is also larger than that of the Celica. I know it's just a DD, but something to consider. 4age = t3h s3x

I'd suggest not going ahead with any of your plans to purchase another car if you're financially unstable.

Did I miss something in this thread??? I didn't see anyone say they were financially unstable...

i want something fun but save gas. i use to own a 85 corolla GTS. and i dont think it saves that much gas having low power. 80mph at 4500 rpms?? i dont know about the ae92. something FWD is it. i perfer 4age or 3sge. im not looking forward for a 5sfe and currently driving a camry with 3sfe. want more high end power at least... and 2dr.

EWW EWW I KNOW! 90-93 Celica ST. with that 4A-FE engine, you'll pwn on gas like none other. Its an awesome gas sipper.

i definetly say go with the 90-91 corolla, they are way nicer looking than the 4th gen celica in my opinion

Good luck finding a AE86...

i traded my ae86 for a st185... its a nice car and i think its worth the price if the car is clean.

what about the corolla fx gt-s compare to the 90-91 corolla gt-s and 88-89 celica gt-s?

Morwan

Only problem with the FX-16 GT-S is that it didn't come with the hi-comp 4AGE, so it has 15 less HP.

Try looking at the Isuzu I-Mark RS, it's like a FX16 with a high-comp 4AGE and a Lotus designed suspension.

most ae86s are in california.

RA65 celica looks pretty similar, puts out around 87kw (at the crank) on the stock motor. Rwd etc etc. the 22-re isn't everyones favourite motor tho...

just like most MK4 supra are in Texas. why?

anyway... overall between the 90-91 corolla GT-S and 88-89 Celica GT-S...

ae92 is the better choice. did the 3sge motor require 91 octane?

i would get in the corolla if it was an AE86,
