call toyota, get a part number. See if it's universal for other celica's.. Not sure it it is or not. probly not. If it is, go to the junk yard.

Call Todd. Everyone here uses his awesomeness. But I can tell you I doubt that part is stocked anywhere. Being that the car is not your daily driver yet, is it really a giant emergency?

yea he wants to move his car ten feet lol.

basically what happend is when i was supposively loosening the bolt i was actually tightening it and it stripped the thread. not my fault though it was so rusted it didnt move either way. i followed the lefty loosey righty tighty method and well i guess its oposite on the particular bolt. fucking tards. the passenger side lossened downward why not the drivers side?!?!?!?

I dont' believe that bracket is available separate from the caliper.
Double check though.

They are both lefty loosey, righty tighty.
Or even easier.
Clockwise tightens, counterclockwise loosens.....
You have to ALWAYS look at the head of the bolt though.
If it's on opposite sides [or top/bottom] it's like in a mirror. Reversed....

Your's'd be the only bolt that would have that problem.

I have a bracket from a 90 celica. passenger side.. so i'm no help. :D

If you wanna move it 10 feet, you don't need brakes. Just use the emergency brake to stop the car.

2kSnakEater
08-28-2006, 12:27 AM
lol, emergency brakes dont work, I havent gotten to that part of the car. I have 2 people that have pm'd me and hopefully I can get that braket this week.

actually i was using my handy dandy breaker bar i bought the other day :wiggle:

what i dont get is it was easier to tighten it then to loosen it lol. both ways it didnt budge not one bit. i never thought it'd be so easy to overtighten something like that :wtf:

TheNefariousOne

Anti-clockwise is when you hate clockwise.

angryyoungnpoor
08-28-2006, 05:33 PM
not necessarily hate, just.. "against" clockwise.. so you could use it for that.

Do you really need both bolts to move the car 10 feet?

The bracket does come by itself. Good luck finding one somewhere in stock. Your guys price on it new would be 64.39. I only show a couple around the country, but you could get lucky and find someone with one in stock somewhere. Special ordered in to most dealerships you'd be looking at 3-7 days for'm to get it. It's a different part number for non-alltracs.

please for the Love of god tell me WHERE did I say its his fault?? I made this thread because I need that braket NOW, not to blame Rick on what happened because what happened already happened and there is no point in blaming anybody, If I was doing the brakes I would of been the person who messed up the threads so it doesnt matter. please read the entire thread before you try to start shit.

that is a "real" car and its by far faster than my All-Trac and would eat your MR2 alive, and probably last longer since you chose to Turbo your 5SFE.

and if you read all the other posts I have probably stuck up for Rick alot more than anybody here on this Site so dont give me that shit, accidents happen. I didnt start a thread with the name "rick fucked up my braket"

here we go a lil v8 verse 4 cylinder..

HA! of course your "done" your hell bent on this 4cyl are better than V8s why dont you open you mind can you actualy think that V8 might be faster than a super duper Import type fast? dont be a ricer! I keep my mind open for all posibilities, I love both my little All-Trac and my Trans Am, I was beaten by an Integra Type fast with a 75 shot o nos, now did I call him names and do a ricer fly by? NO I shook his hand and complemented on what a nice car he had because he obiously did alot of work and gutted his car and spent some money on his 75 shot to beat a STOCK 00 Trans Am.

Also your first video is an old mustand 5.slow

and your second video reads as follows:

Uh sorry man, but a similarly equipped v8 is still gonna eat a 4 banger for lunch. A couple of videos of v8s being beat proves nothing. I could show you 1000 videos of v8s beating 4cyls.

And how the fuck is his Trans Am not a "real car"? It runs low 13s stock...can you say that about any Toyota short of a MKIV Supra? Ugh! I fucking hate when people dislike a car just because it's a domestic/import.

Maybe Iím not even on topic anymore. I hope your salvage yard bracket is working out, but Iíll offer a couple suggestions for whatever they are worth.

The cheapest fast repair would be to try a thread insert like helicoil. I was successful with this once on a caliper bracket.

It is sometimes expensive but a loaded caliper includes the caliper bracket and can usually be had in a day from an auto part store. Often a loaded caliper is not much more expensive than a new bracket Ė if you can find one.

There is a very good chance that your bolt was going to break or strip threads no matter what you did, but righty tighty, etc never worked for me. Right hand threads mean that when you stick the thumb of your right hand out the direction your fingers curl is the direction to tighten the fastener. As long as you point your thumb in the right direction this always works. Left hand thread works with the left hand. Thankfully there are few and they are always marked somehow to let you know they are one of the rare left hand threaded fasteners.

Mister2T
08-28-2006, 10:40 PM
or just pick up a tap and die set, and rework the threads, plus you can always use a tap and die set in the future.

alltracman78

92 and up is the same.

Though I am wondering why the Alltrac has a different p# than the ST184.....

damn man calm down. chris would never bash me in a million years. that guy is always there for me you couldnt ask for a better friend.

as for the v8 bashing im not the biggest v8 can myself but trans ams are pretty impressive. chris's car is stalk and we raced a supercharged cobra and that cobra didnt have much on the t/a. that car stock with cams would demolish a supercharged cobra. they are built pretty damn well and if i was ever to buy a v8 that would def be one of my choices.

On that last note, since we do respond well and quickly to member emergencies on this site, using omfg too many times creates "the boy who cried wolf syndrome." If you only owned the all-trac and could not get to work and were about to get fired, that qualifies as an emergency.

This is actually a 92.
I should have clarified.

My Alltrac was built in 08/91, one of the first 92 ST185s.

3sgte@daspeedof
08-29-2006, 09:46 PM
Well I can understand that the build date is 11/91 late in the year so yes it should have the larger brakes that come on the 92+.

It makes sence that the usdm alltrac & the 92+ st184 share the same brakes as the jdm st185 were the only ones to have dual piston calipers.

Galcobar

Far as I can tell, the construction date break between model years was in September -- I've got an ST184 that was made in September 1989 and from the chassis code was one of the first 6000 made.

I'm pretty sure you have a 9 bolt.
2 Reasons.
1-most 92s have a 9 bolt. Mine being one of the first got spares from the 91s.
2-Looking at the pic you posted of your ic bushing, you can see the manifold heading twards one of the extra 2 bolts.

2kSnakEater

are we counting the bolts that go to the head or the bolts that go to the head + the turbo bolts?

alltracman78
09-01-2006, 12:42 AM
It's actually holes, not bolts.
We are counting all the holes in the manifold to head flange.
