theres nothin wrong with your car. any sudden and significant change in the position of the throttle causes the car to jerk in first gear. the reaction from the car is much more noticeable in first than any other gear because you are only going a few mph. solution: dont drive with a heavy foot, and let off of the gas slowly.

IMAC is right. I even get that in second gear if my rev's are high.. I just push the clutch in lightly so it slips a bit.

WHat makes it worse for me is a shot rear engine mount.

Every manual will do that. It's perfectly normal. At higher speeds (in a higher gear) the car's momentum will smooth out those "jerks" but in first gear the car doesn't have enough momentum to overcome the engine's compression braking.

Just be gentle on the gas, if you need to cruise slowly use second gear, and if you have to slow down while you're still in first engage the clutch then use the brake or just coast.
