So, my friend Adam and I were bored one day. Adam has a convertible and a very nice digital camera. So we came up with this crazy idea (Well, mostly his idea), to seatbelt his tripod to the backseat of the Sunfire and have me in the Celica driving behind him. The goal was to get my car in focus, with the trees and stuff zooming by like in the car ads. Well, the results aren't perfect, but still pretty cool looking none the less.

can you manually adjust shutter speed? If you can get out on a real nice day and try turning it down like 2 clicks. it looks like it would look perfect if you could do that. nice pic tho

They were taken with a Fuji S2 SLR, so yes, the shutter is fully adjustable. We tried all sorts of different settings, but actually getting the whole thing to actually work is a bit more difficult then it sounds. Bumps on the road, slight differences in speed, etc. make focusing on the car a challenge. Out of the 300 or so photos we snapped that day, those 2 were the best. The lighting, timing, etc was better on some, but the car was out of focus, or off-center, or... well, you get the idea. Maybe we'll try it again in the summer when my friend doesnt have to worry about frostbite driving around in 30 degree weather with his convertible top down...
