If it were 245/45/17

The tire is 245mm wide.
the tire sidewall height is 45% of the width, 45% of 245mm.
The tire fits on a 17 inch rim.

Wideness of tires, width and the diameter of the rim. www.tirerack.com will be a good source of information and be able to explain it better. I believe our GTS has 215 50 15s. A out of the norm size by most tire standards. In another thread it was discussed that 205 55 15s will fit too on our stock rims if you needed more options

15" rim (stock on my car)= 215/50r/15
16" rim= 215/45r/16
17" rim=215/40r/17
18" rim=215/35r/18

as you can see the side wall begins to shrink as the rim gets bigger. This is important if you want your speedo to stay accurate. Width wise is up to you. I used 215 as a example. And tire rating is up to u as well. My 18" rims are going to have Kuhmo 215/35yr/18".

Question to everyone, can i go wider then 215 on my car? If not thats ok becasue 18x8 rims will look hot no matter what.

295 the first number in the series means tire width (view from the back of the car). The larger the number the wider the tires. This number,with the parentheses, makes the tire have a smaller appearance from the side 205/ (55) /15 it is the percentage of the first width number.
The last number is of course the size of rim it would fit on..in this case 15 inch.

if you have a 15 inch rim stay with the tire sizes made for our cars otherwise your speedometer will be off. like they said www.tirerack.com will give you the sizes that fit. enter your cars make and model then there will be a list of correct sizes.

no, im sorry that was a Joke. 295's are huge, take out a tape measure and measure out 295mm, thats how wide 295s are. btw I have 315s on the rear of the Trans Am.

Also a side question. What is the widest tire that a person has put on a 5th gen All-Trac? I notice 205 are the norm and 215s are even better.

as a refrence, the tires on the rear of this porshe are 315/30/ZR18. The exact dimensions the T/A has.

Wider isn't necessarily better.

225s will be as big as you want to go

its simple

Example : 225/45/16

225 = How wide
45=How wide tread is from the rim to the top of tire (larger profile dosent mean more tread!)
16=Size of rim:)

GRUMPY - you picked up those Forgelines huh? Those pictures of them on your car make me want to custom order a set of wheels with the same offset and wheel size. Makes the stance of the car so aggressive. I'm thinking of trying to get Gram lights or Motegis.

I've run 235. I'm currently running 225 on 7th gen GTS and 5th gen GT-four/GTS wheels.

Yeah, I just found some Gram lights that they make in the 16 x 8 wheel size. Good luck rolling your fenders. Too bad you don't live in Socal, there's a good hand full of shops that would roll your fenders for you.

There are tons here you just have to locate them.

Any body shop charges out the ass so the best place is a performance shop it seems.
