View Full Version : Started 7mge swap.

So I'm too excited not to post somewhere that after a year of having the damn engine, the swap has started, but too much of a noob to have a digital camera. Soooo, I figure I'll hide the post in the section no-one looks at for now.

So yeah.

In anycase, I started pulling the little 20r out of the car. All I have left is a few little things which I have NO clue what they are exactly, the drivetrain, slave cylinder, and the A/C. The ac is really what's kicking my ass right now, because like a moron, I didn't check the freon assuming "hey, there's no way my car couldn't need a recharge!". So yeah, I still have freon left.
A lot of it.
So luckily, my dad has access to a recycler ( Woot for my dad being a aircraft mechanic!) and I can get that crap out relatively quick. So if all goes well, I should have an empty engine bay and MAYBE a camera in the next week.

Wish me luck.

Things have been going ssoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slowly it's not even funny. Life has been getting in the way.

I am hoping to make some progress during spring break. I need to, because I need to fix my 90 this summer due to a possible leaking head gasket.

I'll make Fort Fun my first destination when it's done :bigthumbu

And Cavanagh, I didn't so much choose a 7mge as it chose me. I found it on craigslist for 200 dollars with a lot I needed. In hindsight, I wish I'd had a bit more patience.

You may be happier in the long run with the GE and not the GTE. You'll get better fuel economy, not that that matters when you are swapping. :)

I'm keeping my 1G very stock. I love the attention I'm getting in even this small town of mine. People have told me every day since I got it how cool of a car it is, or ask me what it is.

I've thought of a V8 swap.

I just can't do it to that car.

It begs to be factory restored.

i'm in need of a new engine, my connecting rod went on my Celica GT's 22RE... and I am interested in more power. how is your progress doing? I would like to know what has to be done to do the swap properly...

i think he caved

if u want brute power do a 7mgte swap

if u want handeling and more power with reliability do a 2rzfe or 3rzfe swap

if u want both do a 1uz swap

the 7mgte swap and 2rzfe swap can be found on celica-gts.com

the 1uzfe swap can be found on celicasupra.com

Yup, she's been sold off to a good home.

If I could do that whole project over again, I would never have gone the 7m route. I just didn't have the experience necessary to complete it, and after I was too far into it, I reassessed my goals and figured the 7m would be right for me.

With that said, Leboe, I can still summarize the high points of the swap and give you a wiring diagram for the ra29. Just PM me, though it may take a while.
