This one has been hanging for a some time now and no one seems to knows where the hell it connects to (not the green cable, the one that looks like it went into the exhaust manifold, except its no).

As you can see comes from the main harness and divides itself into two, one going to the water temp sensor on the rad bottom tank and the other is going to ?????

Thanks guys

My first guess would be a O2 sensor judging by the connector.

Unleaded Fuel did NOT exist here until 1999-2000 when it was introduced for the first time ever, so we did not now what a O2 or cat was until 2000

Something for the a/c?

It's probably a EGT probe connector.
Only NA models got a 4 wire O2 sensor on the 5th gen.
Everyone else had a single wire, so it's not that.

EGT probe going into where? the OEM exhaust system is intact except for the muffler and there is no hole or bung for any sensor whatsoever :wtf:

i'm not too familiar with that motor setup...but looks like it could go somewhere on the alternator if its where all the others go....did we rule out the a/c?

Yeah... deffo NOT A/C.
I had to change the compressor due to a metalic seal giving away and fecking up the compressor block (imagine pieces of piston rings falling into the cilinder), dismounted the whole thing (hence the pic) and found nothing into where this thing could be plugged into

if everything works leave it alone

Is something not in your engine bay that should be in your engine bay?

If you didn't unplug that many things it shouldn't be hard to figure out where it goes, that, and there's not too many places it could go.

Maybe it was suppose to go to a second fan.
Or if you have the A/C compressor out it probably go to it.

Thats the problem, the car per se is almost 100% stock (except for the usual bolt ons) but nothing has been removed. The car works fine but I have never seen that plug loose on other cars and it seems to be that, at my age, most of my buddys who had a Celica sold it to accomodate new family members, damn... I'm getting old

It has GOT to be for a EGT probe.
NOTHING else down there makes sense.
It's not ac. Compressor or fan.
It's not a O2 sensor.

Luis, when is the last time you had your engine undercovers off?

Two weeks ago when I replaced it cause the old one was hanging by the cloth on the duct tape I used to patch it up 2 years ago. :D

I did a through check on where that thing might have been attached to but no joy :squint:

What makes me mad is that I cant find a thing about my specific car, only a load of NADM docs and since we did not have emission controls up until recently JDM/Euro docs wont do either
