Passport X50 8500 today :)

Then I returned it after an hour and picked up the Solo S2, same thing, but cordless :) So far seems to do the job, the only thing is that it completely changes my mentality while driving. Its seems that now I think I can drive a 100 on the freeway without worrying, when in reality thats the stupidest thing ever. So now when I do get a ticket, I'm probably going to jail :lolhittin

How much did you pick it up the X50 for?

Welcome to the club. The solo has shorter range to conserve battery life over the x50 from what i've read.

I just cant stand that cord, I guess I could've hardwired it, ah well.

The X50 with blue lighting was 349 from best buy.

I love portability but its just a hassle charging them/replacing them even tho its suppose to last awhile which is good but you'd have to turn it on don't ya? hehe..

Did they raise the prices? Last year it was $299 for the red display one.

Nope, the blue one is just more expensive.

I think the Solo S2 is going to work just fine for me :)

I looked at the Valentine, and it has its ups and downs. From the reading I've done, it sucks a picking up real low frequencies, hindering it in terms of distance.

Hmm, I would be leery of cordless (they're supposed to be less effective as a result of less power and battery conservation), specially as a hardwire is so easy to do on a celica.

You just run the wire along the top of the headlining and down the a-pillar (passenger). I used phone cable for my Beltronics, and the -ve went to the chassis, the +ve to the cigarette lighter.

If you want I'll grab some pics of mine.

Sure, I would love to see the installed pics.

ATM, i have mine installed right above my rear view mirror, fits nicely.

LOL, maybe I'll take back the Solo S2 now and swap back to the X50 again lol.

Can you hard wire it into the map light or sun roof wiring?
