im thinking about getting the late model camry 2.2L tublar manifold. i was wondering what manifold gasket do i use the one for our year celica or the one for the camry? where did youguys put the cat and how did you modify the flex pipe so it will line up correctly? and what about the O2 sensor wiring, it seems too short to reach to the point it needs to be on the new header? any info and pics would be of great help.

im planig on replacing the rest of the exhaust with 2 1/4 pipe also, custom made.

I used the gasket from the 98 camry, but I recomend using the one from the 91 celica because it has copper O-Rings, the camry one doesn't.

Also, it bolts to the engine no problem, the O2 is no problem, but the downpipe has to be custommade by an exhaust shop, it has an unatural bend doe the different cross member placements.

I'll get a few shots of mine later and post them !

Hooligan is the guy you want to ask about the camry header.

I replied to your PM...

Search for "Camry Header" in the NA forum. There is a pretty long thread there that should cover most everything you'd need to know.

I apoligize for the quality the camera was about to die.

This picture attempts to show the wacky angle the downpipe in on compared to the manifold. It takes a fairly hard left in the middle-right of the picture

canadian- where is your cat? or do you not have one. hooligan said it was intergal to the header but i called the toyta dealer and they said it was under car, but 98 was obd2 so it might have had two cats. what year camry is that off of again? is there any chance of a pic from under the car.....?

the one im looking at is on ebay and it say 98 camry / solara (four cylinder) manifold but im not sure if it is the right one cuz it s a bad pic, and the heatshieds are on and the seller wont email me back about it....its like 50 dollars. i think im gonna get it anyways and see if its the right one.

There is no cat on this. I think the cat he was talking about MUST be a USDM version.

Yeh, no cat on that one. I have a '97 Camry EM on mine and didn't have any particular problems with it. It hardly costs anything to get a new pipe made to connect up to it. I just got a high-flow cat that mounted underneath and everything went fine for inspection. I do recommend either using the heat shield (mine didn't come with one) or insulating it somehow because it'll heat up the components around it pretty good (like the hood insulation...).

thanks i plan on using the heat shields and i dont realy have to worry about inspections cuz they dont have them in ohio yet so i might just go catless.
