I lined up last night w/ a Mitsu GS-T. Thought I would give it a try, see the before and after effects of turboing my 5S (which will be done this summer, hopefully)
Either way the guy pretty much smashed me. I was wondering if anyone knows what kidding numbers they put out stock? and if anyone has a problem w/ them after turboing or swapping their celica?

Eclipse's are like Celi's, bro.

Standard = ST
GS = GT/GT-S
GS-T = GT/GT-S Swapped
GSX = Alltrac

I think they put down nearly identical numbers too. You'll have no probs after you turbo, if you do it right, man!

I believe they have like 210hp crank, lots of aftermarket for them so they're easy to get more power out of them.

It's not easy to get more out of because of the aftermarket support, the 4g just makes more power than the 3s/5s mod for mod.

i beg to differ, ive never seen a 4g63 break 1,000 hp, and ive seen multiple 3s-gtes doing it

Don't be ashamed you got beat badly by a gst. FI > NA I bet a 5sfte would take a stock gst. I would take an old swapped celica gt/gts over a 99 GST. Stock for stock the celica would take the eclipse hands down, I know myself. Look up the curb weight for a stock gst and compare it to the curb weight of a gt celica with a swap, theres a big difference.

pikes peak celica, hks celica, there are a few mr2's roaming around with 800-1,000 hp as well

Pikes Peak Celica isn't a 3sgte....

The HKS, i don't know much about.

And yeah.. i've seen vids of MR2s over 800. :)

I could have sworn that i've read multiple times on this forum, and others, that that engine had a different engine code.

I could be wrong i guess.

Wrong. Pike's Peak Celica used the 503E. Check it before you wreck it.

i have a friend here in town, running a 20g on his 91 talon, ported head, hks cams, haltec and so on, stock intake manifold, he pulled 536hp on 27psi

on pump gas his best is 455hpi i dont remember the exact boost off the top of my head.

another guy i know just dynoed at 500hp in his 98 gst wit awd conversion, he is fully built with a 2.3 stroker, on the dyno he ran 15psi and a 50shot <---pump gas

wow.....I thought 13-15 psi was fairly high on 3sgte. Must take a lot of work to make an engine withstand that much boost!

yo ty, my friends got this 01 gts 6 speed and he raced my other bud with a gs-t w/20g swap and he was runnin 14psi. the clip just barely took him by like half a car. clips arnt that fast. although ive seen some REALLY fast ones. I just finished my turbo 5s and all i gotta say is that 3rd gear is real good, hehehe. Damn i wished it pulled that hard all the time. Lata

with my st165 I had no problem beating my friends gst but he just spent like 7 or 8000 on it bought a built motor with cams.

stock... all stock aside from the turbo manifold, turbo and the SAFC... I was scared so I stood far, far away when he did his dyno run. Guy had a gen 3 getting built so he didn't care about what happened to the stock Gen 3, he was just wondering what it was capable of... but the science of it pretty much was this... run it SO rich that the fuel actually worked to cool the motor (interestingly, it works, no knocking), but I don't think it could take that for too long, it's probably blown up by now, you can ask Joel (1sloceli) about it, he was there.
