What if you are about to take your door off and add another one? My door is the only place besides the title that has my VIN number on it, so would I have to change it to make it match the one on the new door or what?

Plus, isn't there supposed to be the SAME 17 number/letter mix on the windshield? My winshield didn't have the VIN, so what do I have to do?

VIN number is stamped on the firewall and in a metal tab thats riveted to the dashboard (can be seen from outside the car, drivers side lower corner)

I believe the trunk and under the hood has the VIN as well.

If the car has been in an accident and body panels have been replaced, you might not get a correct VIN from those body panels.
Like Luis said, the sure one would be on the metal tab on the dashboard, driver side.

This is my ST. Circled is where the firewall Chassis code is and possibly VIN?http://www.celicatech.com/gallery/files/5/3/7/645710_9_full.jpg

Yes, that is the VIN number on the firewall where you circled.

And as others have stated, you don't have a VIN on your windshield, it's actually stamped into the dash on the driver's side corner. You should be able to see it through the windshield. It could be covered in dust/grime because the car is old.

Do you still have the original door? :squint: If so there is an easy fix. Cut out the decal (do not try to pull it off you will ruin it). After removing the the decal by cutting your old damaged door, take it to your local Toyota dealer. They can order a new decal that has all of your original information on it. They will charge you probably around $30-40 for this service. Do not try to do this without the decal!!! Toyota Corp insists on having the decal before they will reproduce a new one. I hope this helps.

PS. If they don't know what the hell you are talking about they are morons. Its not like this is an everyday thing, but I have done a few for body shops. Tell them to find the TSB (Toyota Service Bulliten) that states how to do it and where to send it.
