I will keep this short.
My crankshaft bearing to #1 cycl is toast.

After much thinking i am going to go with a used 5sfe out of a 90-91 celica, because i need something reliable. I am also going to do a auto-manual transmission swap at the same time my new engine goes in with a new clutch kit and possibly a short shifter cause the stock on is too long. I will do the 3sgte swap in the future when i learn how to repair and maintain a turbo engine which i do not and need soemthing reliable but at the same time i want to still keep my celica since ive put so much time and work into it.

Im looking at a 3sge for now, also beams maybe but the auto tranny has to go out 1st.

Will this engine be a direct fit even though its a newer engine into my celica?

Why don't you go with a 1st gen 3S-GE? They're pretty reliable. It'll have less torque, but it has far more potential than a 5S-FE.

why not just get a jdm 2nd gen 3sge? they have like 156(crank)hp and 135(crank)ft/lbs.. plus, they are really cheap as well..

a rev 1 3sge is not reliable, cmon dude they're approaching 20 years old and approaching classic stautus - it'll need reconditioned. As soon as you give it beans it will be wheezing and leaking like a butchers armpit in hell.

go for a genuine low mile jdm 3sge.

I havnt found any local importers with a 2nd gen 3sge, ecu and wiring harness. And i dont even know what else i will need but im going to search. If anyone can help me with info on a list of all parts i will need besides the ecu then that would be great. I dont see it working with my ecu, if it did then it would run like crap off the 5sfe air/fuel maps.
