View Full Version : Hot-Start problem - 4th Generation Celica ST162

Hi all - I'm the new proud owner of a Celica ST162R. Straight with 300K on the clock. When the cars running it's a dream.

However when driving it whilst hot - I get the old hot-start problem - Lights on but nobodys cranking the engine. If I give in 10 minutes, it will start. Or I can just roll-start it if I'm in rush. Previous owner states the starter was replaces 8 months ago.

I have been reading some interesting posts about the problem, and I'm going to tackle it this weekend.

Anybody have a good checklist of troubleshooting the starter....and I did see a reference to a starter relay in the cabin under the steering wheel.

Overall, the car is rocking the main stage!

Sounds like the classic 4th gen no-start problem.
Do a search on www.toyotacelicaonline.com or www.4gcelica.net and you'll find the relay solution.
