Pulled the bitch right out the top no problem... didn't even lower the car off the jack stands..

So yea.. yay!

So what is the general procedure for turning that AT Tranny into FWD LSD? Is it worth it to do that or try to sell this tranny off and get an MR2 LSD tranny offa MR2OC? Which tranny would be better? and better gear ratios...?
The S53 has a horribly small 5th gear.. sick of blowin down the highway at 70mph and like 3500RPM..

get an mr2 tranny or and s54

is that your clip? its dirty as hell, how many miles on it?

02-09-2006, 04:41 AM
16x,xxx miles... and yea that's mine.. the whole car was mine but we started to cut it up.. I'm selling the rear end.. a rear clip.. it's a perfect setup for converting a GT/GTS into an alltrac.

I doubt you will be able to sell that trans for any real $$$
They are everywhere, due to all the clips about....

02-10-2006, 04:29 AM
So.... what should I do? Just convert it? Seems that the MR2 LSD trannies are goin for $$$$$.

02-10-2006, 04:51 AM
You can convert it....
But the front diff on an Alltrac is open. Always.
So if you want LSD, you need to find an MR2 diff....

02-10-2006, 06:52 AM
Of course.. what do they typically cost?

02-10-2006, 02:24 PM

Just be careful.
I saw a "OEM viscous LSD" diff for sale on ebay.
If you look at it,
1-you can see the gears, so it's not viscous...
2-it only has single gears on the sides, not double, so it's a open diff.....

^I showed him that link. There are other *real* LSDs on eBay. Try to get your diff. cover somewhere other that directly from Toyota. I was quoted at $190 from my local dealer. The speedo gear you may or may not have to get was only around $30.

Well what do I search for?

I assume when I find something that it needs to be for a 90-93 MR2 tranny right? I don't really know what I gotta look for :( Please help.

02-11-2006, 06:44 AM
90- 95
Or 90 - 99 in Japan.

a brand new MR2 T with LSD is like 1800 from the dealer....just find a good parts guy like David Draper at Claremont toyota

I'm just gettin the differential.. not the whole tranny.
